I´m starting a new band and I´m currently working on a few compositions of mine, 4 to be exact, which are all pretty much done, at least the bones, the next step is to show them to the rest of the band and work on them in group. And why am I saying this? Cause this time I´m trying to compose stuff which I want to listen to, stuff that is not out there, in the sense that I haven´t heard of it. But don´t get fooled, I´m not doing anything too radical, I don´t think I could just now. What I mean is that I´m writting stuff which I like, with some elements of some bands and putting them together. The normal, nothing new. And what is this that I´m aiming for? Well...

A lot of Porcupine Tree, mostly Deadwing/Nil Recurring, guitars that lead with rocking melodies and time changes with some Radiohead, specially In rainbow´s Radiohead, like calmer passages, Mars Volta outbursts (I will have a sax in the band!) here and there, deep emotional vocals (if I get the singer I want) in a dredg, Ulver kind of way, with some metal riffing every now and then in a (much more simple) Meshuggah polyrhythm fashion, all wraped around a general melancolic feeling.

Yeah... that pretty much summons it up. Having said that, that´s how I "see/hear" it. It might not even sound like that at all, but it´s not so much the "sounding like" that I want to create, that´s actually the last thing I want, to sound too much like something else, but the feeling and ideas these bands use.

So, if you are in a band, or plan to be, or just want to think about it... what are you aiming for with your music?

My aim is to write the music I really want to hear.
The important thing is not to stop questioning.

I don't have a band and I can't write music, but if I could, it would sound like a mixture of Leonard Cohen and Merzbow.

I'm personally aiming to have a band that plays good, sophisticated music. I write similar to prog if you will, but i prefer to call it classically based rock music.

I've been trying to start a band for awhile now, but I'm taking a break on my search and just working a bit on my chops a bit. Once I hit the musician market though, my goal will be the same: find musicians who want to work in a multi-genre band and create music that isn't bland and sounds unique, even from album to album.

My aim is to ... have fun. I enjoy playing the guitar and composing stuff, but I don't have the time to become a shred guitarist or write prog epics. So I'm starting with simple stuff like this:

My aims are to have fun, do things that haven't been done before, and make music that I like, in that order.

I'm so serious about music that I can say without sounding corny "you'll see my name in music magazines or site's like this one day"

Ive been in a few bands, and they're all different. I hate trying to describe my own music, but I can tell you where I want to take it. To the unknown. I'm constantly advancing and experimenting. I dont know where my music will be in 5 years, but I know it will be new, fresh, interesting, unique, and maybe well known.

check out some of my music on these links. I have hours of more recorded music that arent even on these sites.

http://www.myspace.com/bogdanovichband

^^^ this is my last band, I'm currently forming a new one

http://www.myspace.com/mikeharveyandthejazzdemons

^^^ this is for my own MIDI compostions that i havent played with any bands yet

http://www.myspace.com/portraitofstructure

^^^ this was one of my older bands, my guitar playing wasnt as good, but my writing was up there.

http://www.myspace.com/ascendant

^^^ this was my first band. A metal band. The first 2 songs were from when I was in the band, the last one is some song I had no part in. there were more songs, but for some reason they're not there.

If anyone's interested enough to want more music, or their own copies, I can hook you up. Just PM me.
