Well not sure yet if it's worth recording. I figured
it was more, just that I've never ever learned a song longer than about
6 minutes before, and I wanted to see how well I would be able to learn
and play stuff that went over 8 minutes. Opeth songs are pretty long,
but for the most part aren't technical metal, so I shouldn't have
problems on the technique side of things.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Well, when/if you do pull them off in the
form of a recording/video, you should post them here. People would like
to hear it pretty badly, I'd imagine.
And why the heck do I keep getting the spam message (well, it's not too bad, all things considered) and David hasn't even gotten it once?! |
I haven't gotten any because I'm that awesome

Or maybe you're not awesome enough.

Damn, over this summer, actually no, starting in October, so that's Spring for me, I shall learn some Opeth songs on ze guitar

Good luck then! Maybe you'll make a video of yourself playing one so I could see it. That'd be really sweet
|
Indeed, that's a good idea actually.
Hehe, over 400, now you've gotta get to 10 000
|
10,000 seems really far for me, let alone David.
I even wonder if I'll get that many.
|
Keep posting the the Suede Room (or whatever names it ends up being given) and you;ll be there in no time postn00b
|
Haha, we'll see what happens.

Indeed, I think the challenge of Opeth stuff, is just the concentration aspect and just being able to remember so many parts in one song. I guess it wont be so bad, considering I can play One by Metallica and that goes for nearly 7 and a half minutes.
|
Yeah, exactly. You should be able to pull it off though, from what I've read. How long have you played guitar?
|
Got my first electric guitar for Xmas 2003, but I relearnt to play in mid 2005 after I realized that if I continued the way I was playing, I would not get any better. So I set to work unlearning bad habits for a few months, and took a more classical guitar technique approach to the way I played scales and such.

Awesome. I've played drums for 2 and 1/2 years now, experimented on keyboards/synth for 2 years. I actually have a band (David is in it), but our debut is unfortunately not out yet. It should be a matter of time though; I'll be advertising it here and in my signature, so you'll know.

Considering I took quite a bit of time on a couple occasions where I hardly posted at all, I'd say so. I'm out for the night though. I should really get some sleep. Take care, everyone!

Indeed. I always see that emoticon on Sevenstring.org forums. So many guitars there that make me drool and stare and say "I WANT".
