BTW, found Hugues' Triskaidekaphobie review before he rewrote it:

PRESENT Triskaidekaphobie
Review (Permanent link) by hugues chantraine @ 9:37:13 AM EST, 8/4/2004

SPECIAL COLLABORATION
4%20stars  —  This first album from Present is a real shock . How much more somber can one get. Present is the brainchild of one of the more un-compromising (and sinister) musician ever, Roger Trigaux after leaving this other uncompromising group UNIVERS ZERO. The title means the fear of number 13. As you can see , a cheery start . The first number is the highlight of the album is all about a stroll at the bottom of a canal. This guy should do stand-up comedy , he would make a killing - imagine an audience committing suicide. All jokes apart, the music is astounding but moody . This is not to be put in any ears without serious warnings. Make sure that you get a good listen to this if you are considering acquiring any Present album .

Tongue

Haha, that's great. LOL

Yeah, old school Hugues reviews are awesomeLOL His rewrited ones are of course much more serious, but I think his old ones had a special charm to themTongue

Another one:

PRESENT Le Poison Qui Rend Fou
Review by hugues chantraine @ 9:47:10 AM EST, 8/4/2004

PROG REVIEWER
4%20stars  —  If you read my review on their first album , you will know that Trigaux is a regular funny guy and the cover of this second album is out to prove it. As with the first one , he gets the help from Daniel Denis ( of UNIVERS ZERO fame). Actually if you look at the titles , there is some humour to this , however macabre this is. This RIO music is guitar with heavy groovy rythm driven and should please people who are into zheul music but careful ! - this is not zheul . It could also please Gothic fans. Add also another halfstar.

Big%20smile

Yeah, I agree with that. Hugues's reviews can be quite interesting to read sometimes.

I need to review more myself, but I simply haven't gotten the highest amount of motivation yet... Embarrassed

Hugues is one of my most preferred reviewers around here. I like his style a lotSmile

Yeah, reviewing is a bit harder than it looks. I have hundreds of reviews here, but they where all written over a four years timeEmbarrassed

There are so many great reviewers on this site... I'm not sure who are my favorites if I had to name, but Hugues does have some really great ones.

It is. Especially since I've always been much more of a math/straight-up logical type of person than a writer any day, I might know exactly how I feel about an album... transferring that into a helpful reference in the form of a review and finding the time to do it is a different story.

Indeed. Sometimes you just stagnate and give up. It's frustrating!

My reviews always turn out somewhat different than I expected as well. Im quite satisfyed with most of them, although I have rewritten most of my older onesEmbarrassed

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Most of the time however I simply never get around to even starting the review since I'm not entirely focused/motivated on writing it. Hopefully I'll get down to doing quite a bit here someday soon. I'm not sure. Tongue

Hehe, I've only done 35 reviews, and want to re write at least 3 of them from off the top of my head.
I've already re written 2 or 3 of them so far I believe.

I forgot to mention earlier, but I think Moving Pictures has more CDs than anybody else here, which is quite an accomplishment. :P

I do? LOL

Well I know some older members have a lot more, but they don't really post in the SR.

Yeah, good point. I am surprised; I knew there were quite a bit of people here that had alot of CDs, but most of those must be older members. I am proud of my collection though. Embarrassed

I am pretty much a full-blown progger for the most part, barring a few prog-related and just plain rock CDs, but it's amazing how much variety there is. I have Zorn, Styx, Mahavishnu, and Marillion, for example. Tongue

I'm actually listening to Electric Light Orchestra right now, which were one of the first bands that I ever loved when I was first discovering my love for music. Smile

My dad is a fan of ELO. I really enjoy them myself, particulary "Fire on High" Tongue

I have their entire discography (yes, even Discovery), so I'd consider myself quite a fan. Big%20smile

I absolutely love the albums Out of the Blue, A New World Record, Time, and On the Third Day especially. They have some really fantastic sophisticated pop as well as earlier proggier compositions. I quite like it all, though I'm not in love with every single song they've ever recorded. LOL

I do like "Don't Bring Me Down" though. Embarrassed

My dad often played albums like Balance of Power and Secret Messages when I was younger. I still got songs like "Getting to the Point" and "Stranger" in my headLOL Very good songs anyways!

I definitely agree there. They're especially good if you're in the mood for something that's not full-blown RIO. Tongue

I believe the first time I ever did reviews, I did 3 in one dayTongue
I usually do about 2 a week, but that will always be probably 2 in one day.
I might do some today in fact, since my social life will die down a little until next weekend.

I absolutely love that intro. I remember when I first played it backwards years ago; it kinda creeped me out! LOL

The opening to Secret Messages is RIO as well. Wink
