Time for a little show and tell. I hope this is the right place for it! This weekend I went on a 2-day silver jewellery course. I did one last year too - it's great fun, not as difficult as you'd expect, and you come away with cool trinkets! Lovely to wear or to give as presents (boys, this is a good way to impress your female companions...). So what did I make...? A textured bangle and matching ring aaaaand...... (drumroll please) Well, what did you expect?! I feel this is the essential accessory for all Zeuhl Prophets and Princesses. (I didn't make the chain, by the way...) Here I am ROCKING THE ZEUHL GRIFFE, BABY! Talismantastic! (I made two other rings as well, which aren't quite finished yet. Really, you can make loads in two days! )

Nice work there. Quite inspiring. How much did all of this cost you?

Well... it's not a cheap hobby, that's for sure! I can't see myself going on one of these courses more than once a year. (Unlike some of the people who were there, who do evening classes as well as the summer weekend and one day courses... ) However, it is cheaper (and more personal/fun) than buying ready-made jewellery, and you do end up with some new skills! Thanks, glad you liked my handiwork!

I want one! Could you make me one and send me it in the post? I like the fact it's on the smaller size too and not huge like the real ones were in the early 1970s. I don't want to be mistaken for a hip-hop fan! But seriously, I do want one... I gather you can buy them but gosh... a personalised one would be so damned cool! I could then make it the size. I want it, grrr! Those are just a little too big for my liking...

Ooooh lovely. I think I'd like the silver one, rather than the gold. I should really save money... must resist temptation! 'cause I want a pin badge too... and they have one. Miss M.: did you happen to stencil that logo, 'cause the shape looks correct, or do you just have a good eye for detail? Also, I notice yours is slightly curved, that's cool. I think the official Seventh Records ones are flat.

Nice job, but I'd avoid Kobaian pubs for a while if I were you. :P

I prefer them smaller... so I may order a Seventh Records one... it's hard to tell how small they are... that's why I was hoping Flossy would model it for us.

I love that picture! Although... they do look a bit like they're waiting for a bus. "Dammit, is the No. 54 ever going to arrive?! If we miss that space flight I won't be responsible for my actions... Grr, inefficient earth infrastructure... WURDAH public transport!!" Well... there are instructions for drawing the shape somewhere on the 'Ork Alarm' site, but it's missing the explanatory diagram. So I printed out some pictures of album covers and worked out that it's really a series of six nested circles (alternating between two different centre points). When you've drawn those you get rid of the bit at the bottom where the circles overlap, and draw the 'pointy bit'. (Can you tell I am useless at maths??) I made a cardboard template thusly and away I went! Yes, mine is slightly domed/convex. Because... isn't it supposedly representative of some kind of armour plating that enfolds the body?? Something like that! I think that may also be why the original ones were so flamboyantly enormous. Jewellery on a more tastefully discreet scale won't stop those nasty earth people from injuring your precious internal organs with their horrid guns, now will it??!! Size wise, I thought the Seventh ones looked a bit small, so mine's a bit bigger than those (I think); but yes, a 1970s hubcap version would look a bit silly!!

Why?? Wait a minute... There are Kobaïan pubs?! Good lord. In that case there must be Kobaïan pub jokes. You know, "Pitiful earthling walks into a Kobaïan bar..." It's too early for punchlines, but I'm sure someone can think of a few...

Because the ratio of male Magma fanboys to female Magma fanboys exceeds even James's time employed:time unemployed ratio which is extremely hard to do. A Kobaian walks into a bar and says *insert Kobaian word for ouch, Ouchntahk or something maybe* I wonder if Magma has been hip hop sampled yet, I'm guessing so.

I see you took my advice. That's pretty awesome. I'm still on my mission to get mine... someday. Somehow. I might just buy one from Seventh. Not sure.

That has so much potential for awesome, but it'd be hard to find a Magma sample that doesn't overpower the rest of the song.

Haha, P. Diddly-Doddly does 'De Futura' - that would probably be hilarious. Someone with a ludicrously enormous ego might just be able to pull it off by being extra bombastic...
