can't say for certain but I don't see why he would lie and leave himself open to claims from people who really played on it. |

I loved this album. Has to be the best solo of any Yes alumni.....IMHO.

I voted that he did. There's nothing really virtuoso on the album except for the singing. It's a great album for other reasons than virtuosity.
Still I wonder who are all those people pictured with him on the album cover. Vangelis was supposed to have helped a little. Maybe he gave advise.

this album came out back in 1975. Do you think if he was lying it would be known by now?...

I bought this album when it came out, and immediately wondered why Vangelis wasn't credited in the liner notes, because those synth sounds are obviously his. However, I met another Greek musician in the 80's who was friends with Vangelis, and he said Vangelis let him use some of his "patented" synth sounds. Jon Anderson probably did perform just about everything himself...

That's interesting information and clears a lot up. I also bought Olias when it was fresh in the shops and at the time the possible envolvement of other musicians was quite a topic.

Funnily enough I came across this album whilst rummaging through a discography book the other day (as you do). There are 2 other people credited, 1 was for violin. I forget the names at the moment but will look them up again when I get home.

Would you believe I found my first copy of this album in a carpark in the Perth CBD! It was a cassette tape that must have fallen from someone's car when they pulled up. Talk about a great find

I'm not 100% sure since I didn't watch him record it, but I'd imagine that he did play all of them himself.
![]() This is my favorite solo album of anyone from Yes. Great album! ![]() |
