Topic: Frequent 'Server errors' Posted: July 26 2008 at 09:05 |
Couldn't spot another obvious thread about this.. Sorry if there is one.
I frequentlt get this error when either trying to access PA, or when I post on the forum:
Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while writing to the database.
Please contact the forum administrator.
Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_save_new_post_data
File Name:- new_post.asp
Error details:-
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Timeout expired
I can see there is a problem with the server, but are others getting this? Could there be a problem my end, exacerbating this problem?

I'm getting this as well all morning today (US east coast time).
Plus, the site is extremely slow!

Twice today, I've had the problem. I'm slightly reaasured by the fact that it's not just me. I have confidence in Max & co to resolve the issue before long.

That's really irritating. I've got the Active Topics site set as the starting site in my browser and I get this error almost every time I turn on the browser. Plus the forum is so damn slow...

Not getting the error here, but, the speed is just ridiculous. Painfully slow....can't deal with staring at that darn hourglass icon! All other websurfing is fine....it is just PA.

Four continuous attempts to post a reply in a forum ,every time getting: Server Error in Forum ApplicationAn error has occurred while writing to the database. Please contact the forum administrator. Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_getUserData()_update_last_visit File Name:- functions_login.asp Error details:-Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server Timeout expired When trying to load some artist page, "Service Unavailable" appearead, I finally managed to reach the page but only after repeated retrying. And it's so slow. And this one really takes the cake: after another "post Reply" failure, I pressed the "Back" button on my Mozilla browser and got:

Yeah , i am working on it ...
I am trying to isolate what is causing the Server CPU to Step UP to 100%.
Tonite, I've manage to isolate the Forum and the Discography so that the Discography do not cause the FORUM to slow down in case of High CPU Usage.
I am still working on this issue.
Please post improvements or problems here.
PS: I am also looking to upgrade the server, or to split the Forum and Disco on 2 servers.

Well, the latest for me is that every time I try to log, it gives me an error, but when going back from the error page, it returns to the front page of the forum, with me being logged.
So it eventually logs me, but the whole process is bugged as it always goes through the error.

Right now the discographies seems to be completely knocked out - as is the homepage.
Big, fat service unavailable greets me there now.
Forums seem to be working though.

I'm getting these errors so often I`m starting to wonder whats going on .. So I`m here reading other stories of the same kind wondering whats going on about it ? because I find is very frustrating when making a post just to have it chewed up all the time and being given an error message. Error had happened not long before posting this

hmmm, today it has been aplied to me these errors or whatever, I've made a thread I'll delete it.
2 out of 5 times posting or entering threads it says what Blacksword said, and also "Service Unavailable"
ALSO, the "Search" button to search bands doesn't work, at least to me.

I don't know if this has anything to do with some of the problems, but I have noticed the last couple of days around this time, that the number of on-line forum users spikes dramatically. I just checked and there are 256 users, most of which are not members. I'm not sure if these are hackers or i-robots that are logging in to threads to cause the site to bog down, or something entirely different. I don't know if this helps or not, but it was something that looked rather strange to me.

about a third of my sent posts ended up with that "Service Unavailable" screen today.
The site seems to be quicker than the last few days but the amount of error notices only increased.

That's what's happening with me!
Check the "Search" button to look for bands on the homepage and tell me if it works.
