No, they were called The Burning Bush (with Lucie Skeaping -- www.theburningbush.co.uk).
The other band had two versions of themselves... one where they wore robes and the other when they didn't. They played classical medieaval (well, more Baroque really) but with traditional instruments, rather than modern equivalents. |

it would make a good horror film - especially with HG in the starring role!
i did see Nige last night - i had great fun imagining those who had gone to see Britain's greatest violinist at the Albert Hall expecting "4 seasons" but not what he was about to play - Hendrix! they must have been squirming in their seats. (he released a whole album of this, a novelty and i applaud him for trying different things, but it had me reaching for my "Are You Experienced" album instead). i used to go to the Proms every year but as the arena gets soooo hot and the AH is such a long walk from the station i don't go now, though i still cherish the memory of hearing the great AH Organ in full flow during Saint-Saens Organ concerto - very Prog writing an Organ symphony, though it is uncool to sit impaitiently through 3 movements waiting for the "roar" . Also i remember hearing Holst "Planets" there with "celestial" voices positioned high up in the roof - magical surround sound!

If I remember correctly, a certain John Etheridge (of Soft Machine fame), played with Kennedy on that Hendrix Tribute album.
I wonder how Beck compared to Etheridge? Hmm... will see if there's any YouTube hits soon. |

Not sure but I sure hope Nigel Kennedy pops up again and plays The Lark Ascending. He sounds like David Cross. It's an exceptional version (with Sir Simon Rattle conducting as well). Of course, King Crimson were inspired by the original Vaughan Williams piece, hence why some of LTiA sounds like The Lark Ascending and why David Cross sounds like Kennedy (or vice-versa). |

edit…I’m sorry for my lack of GR contributions of late, but I am still unable to post absolutely anything without getting timed out for it…its been quite bad over the past 2/3 weeks for me tbh, but if anything, its got worse. Everything I attempt to post in this forum, I write out on Word first, then copy and paste. But most of the time, I just can’t seem to get anything to post, so I have stopped bothering. Often, my page just freezes, and I can’t even close it with the Red Cross at the top of the screen…it’ll just stay there for up to 20 mins. A lot of the time, I can’t even open the Forum section on the home page, let alone the GR, so I’ll probably leave it again for another month… I know its not my connection, because I can open every other website OK. Now, I’ll probably take 5+ attempts to get this posted, without receiving one of these: Error: Message Not Posted Spamming is not permitted! You have exceeded the number of posts permitted in the time span. Ah Well. You can't win 'em all.As Richard Thompson said, 'Roll Over Vaughan Williams'. EXTERMINATE! etc. I saw Nigel Kennedy's version of the Dr Who theme on YouTube. Good for a laugh. |

Oh I think I've heard that Kennedy version of Dr. Who and if it wasn't him, it was someone else... obviously.
That reminds me... I must get some of his music on CD. |

^^ I thought that photo was the result of a surfeit of Moose 'n' beans in chilli sauce, around the camp fire, washed down with several pints of Peter's local nail varnish remover...
welcome back, Jim...
