Of course everyone knows of Yes "Paris Sessions" (1979)  featured on many bonus tracks on the re-released albums.

Another from Pink Floyd, and far more satisfying musically than the Household Objects project, were the two song-suites "The Man" and "The Journey" both around 40 minutes long, and performed live several times in 1969.  The later versions included such songs as Cymbaline, but I prefer the more experimental earlier versions.

Clap great example of a lost project....

Many of the best could-have-been albums, imo, are those of legendary/extraordinary live performances sitting in archives that record companies don't feel the desire to cash-in on Confused go figure. A huge number of high-quality soundboard and radio recordings exist, and many could have been considered "classic" live albums... Besides the Man & The Journey already mentioned, great recordings exist such as Yes performing live at Wembley in '78 and a multitude of BBC Archive material that would be of great value to fans of various bands who performed at the BBC studios, Pink Floyd being an obvious choice considering the only pre-wall live material made available is the live disc of Ummagumma (Ermm ) and some 66-67 recordings...

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the lost Alan Parson's Project album.  If I remember correctly it was chess themed and to be titled Sicillian Defense.   It was recorded but suppressed by the record label.  As far as I know, no copies have surfaced.
