Following on from the obscure films thread, how about those films that everyone can quote word for word but you've somehow avoided seeing? I'm not talking about anything that isn't at least 5 years old, but those films which are always being shown on TV and are always cluttering up the racks at blockbuster. Speaking for myself, I've never seen..........................wait for it.............

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Everybody, and I mean everybody I know seems to have seen this about 15 times. I've been told about it so many times that I feel like I've seen it, but I've never glimpsed so much as a single frame.

So come on, there must be people out there who've never seen Apocalypse Now, Reservoir Dogs, Blade Runner and all those other classics - admit it now!

'Like so many of you
I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

Robert Wyatt, Gloria Gloom

Lord of the Rings - all of them

Star Wars - all the new episodes

Titanic

I have watched a little of most of these and based on that i can say that all of these are pure CRAP.

Based on the first half of the first Lord of the Rings it is a horrible childrens movie with an awful story line. I have not read the book but it's clear that they couldn't make a good movie from the book. The new episodes of Star Wars seem to be awful compared to the old ones. I just hate digital technique. The little I watched Titanic was just pain.

There's many more but these are the nost obvious... i just hate the commercial Hollywood crap. They can make only a few really good movies there per year nowadays.

Oh.. lots of these for me... because I'm not really a film fan... so:

  • Titanic
  • Any of "The Godfather" flicks
  • Any of the "Alien" flicks
  • Both "Kill Bill"
  • Schindler's List
  • Memento
  • American Beauty
  • Taxi Driver
  • Chinatown

all Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street movies..

Plenty of others I'm sure...

The Godfathers...Most of Scorsese's early work...The Rockys...Dr. Strangelove and The Un-Edited version of The Shining (even though I'm not a Kubrick fan)...

Interesting how most of us haven't seen the same movies hehe.

Just about every American?hollywod blockbuster in the last decade....

I hate every film with a big budget made for breaking the box office cashboxes. I refuse to participate in those money gubbing machines even though I may be missing on some good flicks. 90% of my film viewing is non-USA. I will however see Cohen Bros , Woody Allen and Sean Penn productions.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Kill Bill (Both)

Star Wars (Attack of the Clones)

Citizen Cane

The Itallian Job

The Good the bad & the Ugly

The Long Good Friday

I have also managed to avoid virtually everything with Keanu Reeves in it apart from Bill & Teds Excellent adventure (Both parts) Which is obviously a masterpice of modern cinema

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
