Yesterday I went through my collection and came up with 16 pages of killer songs. I bet there was way over thousand of them. Then after another elimination process there is now about 215 songs left, so I guess I'll make a top 200 starting today.

I realized with horror that I have a heap of Uriah Heep missing from mine and some lesser pieces by them got included.  Oh well - I'm not going to change it now.

So the list is coming along quite nicely indeed but it is becoming increasingly apparent that more entries are needed. If too few people contribute, the list becomes rather one-sided and there really is no definitive result. I really appreciate those who have contributed and those who are currently at work. Just a friendly plea for those who haven't taken notice of this project that their entries are much appreciated and will produce a far superior final result. Ying%20Yang

^You should start a thread in the prog lounge to advertise this were everyone will notice it.

Actually on the site where I saw these lists being done for the first time, they make a "List of Shame" which is the names of all the forum members who really should be making lists but somehow have not. I think seeing your name in a thread would be a kind nudging in to having you contribute. Any thoughts? I've also considered advertising via PM, but I don't want to be a nuisance.
However, there these lists are popular and looked forward too annually rather than me trying to get everyone excited for this.
I think seeing the results as they are now would also encourage quite a few people to get on it to change it. Evil%20Smile

Compiling a list such as this is not really my strong suit.  I like so many songs I find it difficult to choose favorites from them.  19 of my top 20 most listened to songs on Last.FM are from Rush (probably not a big surprise), and these aren't even my favorite Rush songs, they are just from the albums that I have listened to the most in the last 9 months since I started my Last.FM account.  The hard part is trying to think of or remember songs that I really like, but haven't listened to for years because I have "moved on", and whether or not those type of songs would belong anyways.  Another thought is that I can just copy the entire Rush and Yes discographies and provide those, but I suppose I would still have to put some sort of order to them. Wink  Oh well, no promises, but I will try and come up with a list for you before your deadline.

i cant believe i didnt see this thread earlier. i was so excited for this after the top albums one came out. are you scoring this the same way? i might try giving points in blocks, like 1--10 get a certain amount, 10-20 get a lower and so on... that might make it easier for me to make my list.

Well, I think you were on for a bit of a tall order anyway with this song list, far more so than the albums list. Problems arise when you have to compare Script for a Jesters Tear with Birth Pains of Astral Projection and The Glass PrisonConfused.

I hope you re-do the album list again this winter, I think you have a better chance of a good turnout and I know my list will look vstly different this time.

Yeah it's not the work that's killing me, I think I'm doing a decent enough job of keeping up. I just really wish I could stimulate participation.

And you bet the album list is coming back in December, no question about it.
