I've read on Wikipedia that Daniel O'Sullivan has left Guapo but this seems completely false, as nowhere on Guapo's website, or on Daniel O'Sullvan's MySpace, does it mention anything about this.  In fact, D::OS:: lists gig dates for Guapo, so he must be a member of them still.

Do you know anything further?

looks like an excellent album, but I knew nothing about it. And as for D::OS:: leaving Guapo - utter ***** as far as I know, although I haven't been to any Guapo or related gigs recently.

Indeed.  I think that Wikipedia note about him having left after Elixirs is indeed rubbish.  It even says who replaced him. LOL

I think it's some troll who's abused it.  I may actually log-in to my account on Wikipedia and correct it.

I posted about Mothlite's album numerous times.  It's among my favorites of this year.

As for the comparison to Extra Life, I don't really see that.  Mothlite focuses more on atmosphere and ambience than Extra Life does.  Extra Life is also much more rock-based compared to Mothlite.  Despite the comparisons, I'd definitely say Mothlite has the better album of the two.

But the lyrics for Extra Life are pretty funny.  LOL

I'm still going to recommend you guys listen to Wogulow, Taroutz, Vermo even after Asaaf did so a while ago.  Taroutz is an incredible composer.

Lol, the beauty of open open source media Big%20smile Yup, good thing i threw away all my encyclopedia away...

Anyways, the Myspace samples Mothlite put up sound excellent to me. (they seem to me as is they'd be a bit more appealing to post rock fans over Rio fans though)

Has anyone gotten a copy of the album from Southern Records yet? Amazon shows the release date pushed back to September 22, 2008.

On a related topic - I finally got round to picking up a copy of Manfauna by Miasma and the Carousel of Headless Horses and I'd recommend anybody who hasn't already dome so to snap up a copy sharpish beecause it's a limited edition of 1000.

It's only limited edition?

I have a copy already but I didn't realise it was limited to 1000. Big%20smile

Chris, are the CD and LP editions both limited to 1000?

I also notice the Latitudes series have Circle and Bohren and der Club of Gore recordings, so I may have to get those as well. Big%20smile

As far as I know, yes they are both limited editions - I think the same is true for all the Latitudes series.

Got a copy of Clear Frame today, which I'm just adding to Itunes and my ipod now. At this rate I'll be skint for the summer, but I'll have a killer selection of CDs to listen to.

Are any of the other Latitudes series worth purchasing?  The only other two bands I have heard of are Circle and Bohren and der Club of Gore... but judging by the fact they have those two and Miasma... I'd say the others may well be worth looking into as well.  Do you happen to have any of the others yourself?

I still haven't heard any Clear Frame.

Some news though for those who maybe interested:

Afenginn (who I added early this year) are releasing a new album.  I'll give you further details soon.

Clear Frame's album is excellent, and according to Hugh Hopper's website they may be appearing at the Canterbury festival this autumn - huzzah!

This has been an impressive year for new albums - I've been massively impressed with Elixirs, Trisector and Clear Frame. Mothlite's album is now scheduled for a september release, but the online samples are very promising, and there's also been a splendid Haini Keijo/Yoshida Tatsuya release. For the first time in several years I may find it difficult to pick my top 5.

Don't forget Jannick Top's Infernal Machina Wink

I've got it sat next to me and I'll be playing it in a bit, here's the lineup:

Line-up/Musicians - Jannick Top / bass, cello, cellobass, percussion, voices
- Christian Vander / drums
- Damien Schmitt / drums
- Marc Chantereau / percussion
- James McGaw / guitar
- François Delfin / guitar
- Thibault Abrial / guitar
- Jim Grandcamp / guitar
- Fabien Colella / keyboards, computing
- Mathias Lecomte / grand piano
- Klaus Blasquiz / voice
- Natalia Ermilova / voice
- Veronika Boulytcheva / voice
- Stella Vander / backing vocals
- Himiko Paganotti / backing vocals
- Antoine Paganotti / backing vocals

Big%20smile

Also, I thought I'd let you know that Soft Machine Legacy are playing at The Robin 2 in Bilston and also twice, at the Jazz Café in London, I think in September and October.  If you have a chance of going to either of the London gigs, let me know, I may be tempted to go myself. Big%20smile

So far:

Track 1: starts off a bit like Satie's Gymnopedie pieces, only with 'cello and piano.  Then some light vocals... it sounds like it's about to exponentially explode into a thousand pieces... no drums as of yet
Track 2: still building but now it's sounding a bit like Guapo
Track 3: much heavier... almost metallish in places - still reminds me of Guapo

You'll have to wait for the rest. LOL

Track 4: now it's gone into a mix of Chamber Prog and classic Magma... first time for the male vocalists!  Now it's sounding like classic Zeuhl

That's funny.  I'm still persevering with 'Five Suns', and it still sounds suspiciously like Kohntarkosz in places... LOL

It also reminds me of something else and I cannot place what it is...

Try Black Oni.  I love that album!

Now things are getting much more intense...

Now if only you lived in Wiltshire, you could listen to it with me. LOLEmbarrassed

When/where'd you get the album, James? (Or has anyone spotted any good prices/places for it yet? I haven't looked too hard yet.)

As you know, I really want it. (i.e.: need)

I've had it maybe a month... this is my first listen.  I got it from Wayside but ReR US have it too.  It's about $22, which is a tad pricey, especially for a Digipak release.

My... this is definitely Metal Zeuhl. LOL

Aww, I wish! Big%20smile

Haha, we'll have to do a 'synchronised listen' of something, in separate locations... LOL

True.  You'll have to buy a copy first though.

By the way, from Part VII onwards, it gets completely hectic and I'm sweating here!
