wowSmile. thats good David, cause I have really short term memoryLOL Well they sound pretty harsh, and often somewhat described as emo, I guess. I suck at describing bands, maybe you should check their myspace and have a listen at their samples from their NOCTURNE album.

Yeah these vocals aren't too bad.  It's the real whiny emo thing I don't like.  Though surprisingly I do like Taproot, it's like the only band I kept around after the dust settled.

I've heard of Taproot before, but never heard them. And if you don't mind the vocals check out In Mourning(similar to Opeth) and Textures which have the ones I've listen recently and they don't have that emo whiny thingy you mention.LOL

See now you're on the right track.  And both of those are on my list.

I love Taproot, their album Gift is pretty killer.

However,I saw them live and they weren't that good, and Stephen Richards' vocal perfromance SUCKED.

The Human Abstract combines the good elements of Protest the Hero (which in my opinion aren't many... too much caffeine) with metalcore, psychedelia here and there and emo... yes, emo. A few tracks sound quite MTV-ready LOL... But they have good melodies... I gave it three stars in my review... Pretty promising band, way better than Protest The Hero...

More like a second or third tier Nu-Metal band. But I am not one of those people that hates Nu-Metal.I especially like Slipknot and Mudvayne, but most of the others I am not crazy about.

Well I heard their new song from their upcoming album and it doesn't sound that promising. But better wait till they release the album to judge it properlyWink

Gift is very catchy.  The emotion seems to be genuine..  I also like Welcome, but by the time Blue-Sky Research came along  ... guess I just wasn't that interested anymore.  I do own it, but haven't given it many spins at all.  And I'm not surprised the vocals sucked live.  I went to handful of these type shows myself and just can't do it any longer.  I almost went to see Protest the Hero here in Tampa, but I really couldn't bring myself to sit through the rest of the line up... saves the day, et al...

Well I don't like it that much, but I think my bro has one of their albums, I might check it out. As for Slipknot, I'm not expecting something great, because I haven't liked both of their singles released so far. Gonna have to wait to listen to the whole thing.

Slipknot is the headliner at the mayhem tour I'm seeing on the 29th.  And I do like Mudvayne also.  But out of that show I'm really excited to see Mastodon.  I'd only recommend the cd "Gift" Sebastion.

Mastodon RULE.I have seen them on all three tours for Remission,Leviathan and Blood Mountain. On their Blood Mountain tour they played here in Baltimore at a medium sized club called Ram's Head Live, and they were amazing. It will probably be the last tour where they play smaller venues like that.

Hey David, have you ever heard of Scale The Summit? You might dig these guys and I can't post without recommending a band.Tongue

Wish I caught them in a small venue.  I really don't know how Mastodon escaped me for so long.

Yeah, and I noticed the post recommending thing you do LOL

k, Scale the Summit is up after In Mourning and Into Eternity.  They only have one album?  Monument?
