The bonus track is a 28-minute live performance of a piece called 'La Faulx'.  The tracklisting/personnel info for it refers to "vague rumblings and interstellar chaotic speech" (!) by Guy Segers. Smile

Here come three names from the title. Who the hell are these guys? Is Comrade Wogulow that grey-haired bowed old man with the lustrous hateful eyes, "Chief Boss of the Globe Reconstruction"? Did Comrade Vermo graduate musical secondary school where he practiced folk-instruments and succeeded then as "an Electrical Engineer of Heavy Currents"? I don’t know… But as the name of Taroutz is concerned, Alexei is best known as a guitarist and master-mind behind instrumental avant-rock quartet I AM ABOUT ON THE LEFT. Since the end of 2006 when the four decided to cease their joint-venture, Taroutz has gained reputation as one of the most inventive and originally minded experimental composer scoring for cinema and making solo recordings. Ranging from micro-noise manipulations and ambient-drone sculpturing to academic minimalism and chamber-rock music, Taroutz’s solo works are always deeply rooted in documentary visual performance often self- cinematographed and directed.

On May 29, 2008 WOGULOW, TAROUTZ, VERMO played their stage-debut as a duo of Alexei Taroutz (guitar, electronics) and Evgeny Grinko (drums, percussions).

 
 
 
 
Forgot to mention one more thing about the above mentioned RAIG - October Equus have recorded a new album and it will be distributed by RAIG; it should be sent to the press soon and I hope to be able to review it as soon as it comes out; looking forward to it based on the strength of their s/t album from 2006

Oh, so you've bought that remaster of 1313?

That's one I may get myself... however, I already have the original version.  Can I condone having it twice on CD?

Yes, Le Faulx is indeed on Heresie.  I have Ceux du Dehors to listen to yet.  Apparently that's many peoples' favourite.

1313 is a good place to start though.  Heresie will blow you away as well though, so don't forget to get that in time.

Now I have recently made a Wayside purchase... but 1313 wasn't a part of it, so I may have to wait.  Of course, if I do get it, I'll have the old copy as well, so do I sell it, or keep it?  Hmm.

I think old CD editions will go the way of vinyls and may increase in price, especially as remasters are released, so I may in fact keep it.

Did you have a good day?  I know my birthday this year will be non-descript.  I'll likely go out but I won't get any goodies like RIO or Avant-prog albums... but then I have most of them already. LOL

Do I write... well, not professionally.  For myself, in amateurish fashion, very much so!  I've made a start at writing some reviews here (currently a little limited in focus... but more will follow!), and there is some musically-inclined scribble on my blog (here's some stuff tagged 'music'), but I'm certainly not a critic (well, an 'armchair critic' maybe...).  [Er, um, end of self promotion! Embarrassed]

Hey James, I'm finally taking a listen to Passed Normal vol. 5, and it's quite fabulous overall. I have vol. 4 [which is rather stellar too], and some vinyl I think, but it's all packed..In a few months I'll look and hook you up...

btw - does anyone have a Mother Gong title to suggest?

Indeed.

Even I neglect them.  I pulled out Still Life earlier for the first time in ages.  It's one of my top 3 albums ever and I deliberately don't play it that much, because I don't want to grow tired of it. LOL

I may have a VdGG marathon in the week but I shall be having a Koenjihyakkei marathon first, because I now have all of their albums on CD.  Of course, I shall be playing the original recording of Hundred Sights of Koenji before the 2008 re-release, because I want to hear how much different it sounds now Tatsuya has re-recorded the drums. Big%20smile

I am glad I have been an inspiration. Wink

LOL - My beaux does the same thing. I got this beautiful 3 part box set of Japanese mini LPs of theirs a few years ago - all remaster & bonus tracks in tow..I've been getting into vinyl again though, and the sound is so much better -  warmer and richer, than CDs in many cases, so I am thinking of of buying the LP versions of some of my faves again [sold thousands of LPs in the early 90s, like an utter fool!]
[I am trying to decide what title to rate a 15 [the top] for Gnosis - it's between Pawn Hearts and The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other...and: Damn it's a difficult choice! ;)]
 
Really?! I didn't know that. I have the orig. Japanese release. I don't think it's as strong as the other two, but in this case I just may have to get the re-release I suppose...[Lordy! As if my list's not long enough!]

Sorry to take away the discussion from RIO affairs et al. but I'd like to mention this interesting and experimental album that's available for streaming by a one man project called Achenar which is a very interesting avant-guard listening experience.

As far back as 1996, an album was conceived of that combined the traditional and the contemporary, the harsh and the beautiful, subtlety and bludgeon.
