Nice review Linus....I haven't heard that album yet, I have only "Crac" and "1978" both of which I really enjoy.

Ryan, what happened to the other 3 bands that vanished from Ratingfreak?  There were 7, now 4.

Thanks!
Are they similar to Arbeit Macht Frei? In that case I'll be getting them quite soon.

...and some good points in it.  If I had to choose, Arbeit Macht Frei would be my top Area album with Crac just behind.  Black September is probably their most well-liked song, I rambled about that one in my review, that's the one that really got me into the band, grabbed my straight by the throat.  Something has to be said for all the musicians but Stratos is easily one of the great vocalists and Pariselli an unjustly overlooked magician on keys.

Get Crac, it's quite similar.  L'elefante Bianco is as good as Black September...you will feel compelled to dance during the instrumental part...don't resist it, go hog wild.

Yeah, that is one amazing song!

Gah! A screw-up there Pinch. I gave Stratos all keyboard credit, but he's just the organist. And I even double-checked it...shame on me...

I saw that too, I have no idea what happened, but shoot...I can't remember how I voted and didn't take notes.  I sure hope we can get them back.

I think the names were:

Aegan - heard some promise in there, particularly the violin work and some of the vocals.  Not great.  Not bad.  Not prog.

Anfiteatro - very '70s RPI sound, this one got voted in 4-0 to our sub.  The keys remind me of PFM, Genesis, and Celeste....very good in places but inconsistent

The one at the bottom of the list (??) - Kinda bland, generic.  Can't really even remember much other than sort of a mix between light-metal and alternative.  Jim didn't like 'em eitherWinkLOL

yep.  Don't have that one yet but judging but the little I've heard, it could come right behind "Crac!"

...and miles ahead of Caution Radiation Area.  But let's not talk about that little blip.  Maledetti isn't great either...

Sounds like I mostly agree with you then. And yeah; no doubts about Anfiteatros place in RPI.

I just have to mention this: RAdM and AMF started out as clear favourites, but I have to admit that both Palepoli and QVL beats at least RAdM right now. And Palepoli might be heading for a 5 star rating...

It took more time than any of the other albums, but I really, really like it now. Probably the last of the batch to receive a review though...

Got in on...Wednesday. And Arbeit Macht Frei is the only one that I've listened to enough. An average of 3-4 spins a day. Quick is the wrong word. It's effective.

But that effectiveness sadly doesn't work outside music Cry LOL
