I do not give a damn about what the subgenre he fit best, but he should be added allowing people to review the album. Instead, sometimes on PA discussions about subs can go on for months without a decision...

well Andrea.... the site DOES give a damn.... maybe this is best discussed in private.. but since this was raised here.. .we'll discuss it here... I for one appreciate the HELL out of what you have done here.... from your blog.. to ALL your suggestions. I would like you to show the same appreciation for those who give their time to this site.. and simply do not have the f**king time to evaluate every band as it comes in or within days.. you gave us what?... over a 100 bands to look at. For the most of these last months while Andrea C. and Guiillermo have had personal committments.. .I have been alone on that team. I offered you a chance to join us and help the process along. you refused.. and I don't hold that against you.. What you do is just as important as what we do.... but I am a bit tired of not having what we do measure up. When M@X pays me.... I will take the time when I am beat to hell after a days' work... or when I need to have my time with Raffaella.... otherwise.. these bands get eval'd when we get to them.

I'm very sorry if gave you the impression to be a little bit harsh. I appreciate vary much what you're doing for the site and other precious fellow collaborators as Andrea Cortese or Guillermo... I'll try to put it in different terms: many artists could fit many subs... In these cases for me is not really important the sub where they're added first... You can add them and move them later after some reviews (=feedback) are submitted...
Take it easy, I'm not going to criticize you or the site policy here!  |

On about Alex Carpani I wouldn't tighten up 'cause some important musical passages sound to my ears a sort of mix between Conqueror and Hostsonaten.
It's more pure symphonic than italian symphonic (that's my opinion that he fit better in symphonic) but it's a debatable question so we could add them to RPI meantime... (if the other respected team-members agree, obviously).

If I may put forward a practical suggestion, bands or artists who, like Alex Carpani, could fit into another subgenre as well as in RPI should be added to RPI for the time being, though with a reminder to have them checked by some other genre team. As one of the members of the Heavy Prog team, I promise David and I will try to look as soon as possible at any suggestions for our subgenre. Unfortunately, the addition process at the moment is seriously flawed, and I think all those acts that have at least some connection with the RPI sound should be added there, pending a more accurate placement.

I'll check out Corte Aulica and Lingalad now when I've had the chance to listen to my new albums. Perhaps I'll be able to have a review out on either Palepoli or Arbeit Macht Frei before the end of the weekend. They are the current favourites from the batch. Palepoli took a little more time, but now I'm loving it.  Not particularly impressed by QVL's debut yet. It's not bad, but somewhat lacking. But then it wasn't the album I was recommended, just the one I could find. We'll see if it develops into something bigger and better...

excellent Andrea. we are well aware... hell.. read the various threads in the collab zone. I know.. or recognize out loud that many of these artists can go in multiple subs... however.... and let me be frank.. there is a significant population here that loves nothing better to bitch and complain about the placement of these groups... so we try to get them added in the subs we think are best for them. Remember Braen's Machine.. we were jumped for adding that in ISP... when two teams thought it was best put in here. You may not see it.. but that is the bullsh*t this sub deals with. So just bear with us.... they will get added... but on our time. We are the ones who have chosen to fight those who have nothing to do but bitch about such petty things on this site as if their way was the only view of things. I know others would hate it to have their additions pissed upon by others not even familiar with the sub-genre.

I knew you'd love it... and stick with QVL's debut.... I love it at least hahahha. Definitely more than the 2nd.. but many do like the second better... need to dig an old poll up and check. think we had one some time back.. remember it being sort of split...

that QVL albums was probably in the first 5 RPI albums I got... loved it from the first listen... not a whole lot of polish.. but love the fire of it.

The second QVL album is more "refined" or polished...whichever you like, the sample from it is a good representation. I'm not as familiar with them as Micky and Jim, but those two albums are reasonably different and I like 'em both for different reasons...but what I was saying is that the second one may be a better fit for you, especially if you like PFM.

As I said: I've only heard it twice, so I better give it more time before calling it "disappointing". So far it's just not as good as the others, which has a whole other meaning

yea yea, I see...it's like an average-sized man around NBA players, just takes a while to realize the short guy has a decent jump-shot

I still haven't given Akt a try yet, I'm pretty sure that's the only one...I'll try and get back to it later. As far as quality, I'd say that the bands were about 50/50 good versus not-so. My favorite is probably Lingalad.
