sheesh you guys talk fast! Linus, good to see you around and your opinion is valuable doing the evals  I've only been able to try on Alchimia briefly...still making up my mind but I can see that alt-RPI thing you pointed out, I'll get back to it...

I absolutely adore the first two tracks. Rest isn't bad, but definitely mediocre-er.

I prefer Darwin to Banco's debut but both are strong records.
(Darwin is a masterpiece and debut not...but that's my personal opinion, obviously).

I've been writing a review of it in my head, and contemplating giving it 5 stars  Now just for your frame of reference, I don't like to give perfect ratings...where I come frum, that there's a sign a' weakness.
edit: for Le Orme, I agree with everyone else and the ratings/reviews in PA - Uomo di Pezza is the place to start but Felona e Sorona is good too, just more "out there"...kinda spacey and slower in parts. UdP has a great mix of poppy folky stuff that is extremely catchy and weightier symphonic workouts.

I'm interested to know your opinion about the differences between the two records. I've always found Darwin as their most adventurous record while Io Sono Nato Libero is introvert and mature.
Still haven't written review on s/t debut but I hope I will in the near future.

I've done reviews for all three of them. Darwin is actually the one I like the least

that sums up my thoughts. I haven't listened to Darwin for quite some time but it used to be my favorite one while Io Sono has a great long track (can't remember the name...don't have the cd actually) and Non mi Rompete but I can't remember much about the rest. This may change when I get the cd because Micky and Linus, and others have Io Sono as their favorite one....just so happens that I've listened to the debut more. The three "big" tracks on there absolutely bring the house down. After that, Darwin is definately the most sprawling and experimental and thus hard to "get", but well worth it. You can really see the band evolving (har-har, pun intended) over the first three, and IMO they're very close on quality but the debut has an energetic abandon about it...especially Vittorio's playing, that puts it above IMO.

atta-boy. I actually listened to Per un Amico in the car yesterday...had forgot about how great it is, especially Appena un Po which is one of THE definative prog tracks.
