Hey... I love happy GY!BE as much as the next guy, but I like my ambiance in my twenty minuters!

Oh BTW, I have gone on a bit of a math rock splurge and got some Tenebre, Lite, and finally Battles' Mirrored! So far I've only listened to Tenebre, and it's so mellow it's great!

That sounds nice. I still haven't heard Tenebre though I have  one of their albums. Battles Mirrored is great but Lite's Phantasia steals the showBig%20smile.

You should check out Pelican. They are a 4-piece instrumental band from Chicago. Nice heavy melodies. Good stuff.

can someone explain why Mooncake's new album isn't the most generic and predictable piece of post-rock hand-me-down yawning ever?

I see them in my dreams, u'kno

mirthrandir, you've got a perfect list to check out. I'd add some more bands to it - IMMANU EL and some Russian ones, but it would sound like a promotion

curious, where do you get most of this stuff? I checked out some of their myspace pages, but found very little on amazon or CDuniverse, any store in the US I might be able to scoop up a few of these bands CDs?

These are very hard to find in the stores but you can order them from their websites or through their record labels. Even their myspaces have links to them.Wink
