A band I had the pleasure to see a couple weeks ago, I figured I'd suggest them now. I'm honestly not sure where i'd put them but to me they sound a bit like Frank Zappa mixed with Sonic Youth. I definitely find the music progressive, though not the most complex or technical. The place to have a listen would be www.myspace.com/fetishchicken
they have I believe three albums out, and even if they can't be added I highly recommend listening. The track I'd most recommend would be "New Mexico".

Interesting alternative/ indie rock. Listened a bit to this yesterday, and listening again.  I'm not sure where it would fit either.  Enjoyable.

Described here (http://thephoenix.com/BandGuide/artistprofile2.aspx?id=1457) as Genre: Alternative Rock, Comedy, Experimental, Punk, Rock

And here (http://www.indie-music.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=6177) as

Quote
Style: Progressive/Experimental Rock

Quote: "While this is obviously the genre that Fetish Chicken relate to and play music in, you have to wonder who this album will appeal to, apart from the most hardcore of (in their own words) 'backwards-looking art-rock' fans."

Here's a review from http://www.thenoise-boston.com/content/view/12/10/

FETISH CHICKEN
Outer Sewage Records
Volume=Talent
12-song CD
         Fetish Chicken? Is this a joke or some angry, punkish garage band trying to reinvent the wheel?  None of the above.  This band is certainly no joke.  In fact, if Led Zeppelin made a baby with Queens of the Stone Age and then that infant went on to make a baby—an illegitimate baby with Jim Carroll—this child’s nickname would be Fetish Chicken.  This bad-ass musician child may even be New Hampshire’s answer to The White Stripes.  The eclectic mix of murderous, grungy progressive rock gave up just enough reminiscent sounds to keep me tuned in.  Besides, it’s hard to be over critical of a CD with a cover photo like this. It features a large man in a lab coat with massive pork chops (mega side burns) pointing to the equation that is the CD title Volume=Talent while standing in front of several 100-watt guitar amplifiers.  Phew!   (Lance Woodward)

I was thinking about it and I'd say either eclectic or crossover would be best. eclectic because that is a fitting description for the music, but they have crossover potential, as they tend to write shorter, more concise songs with a somewhat traditional structure, yet still with an experimental nature to them.

not quite the 'oh wow' kind of group like  Gaylord and June Cleaver and the Steak knives were for me.. probably because they don't have the same obvious and blantent eclecticism they had . However I think these upstarts have a place here....  think Xover might be a first place.  Dean is our resident 'indie' expert..
