You would if I was playing Nick's guitar.  Shall I pop round? LOL

Then I could do a cover of Barclay James Harvest's "The Day That I Played John Lennon's Guitar" but with a name change, of course. Wink

There was a competition to go to Beijing and take part in the Olympic closing ceremony where they hand the torch over to the UK, she really really wanted to go and to win.......... I was a little concerned (esp as she nominated me her "responsible adult chaperone" !) the whole Tibet thing, and well, a whole political mine-field going on.............. anyway she didn't win, (She had to write a letter to a child in Beijing) but she came a top runner up, and as it's the 50th Anniversary of BP she got herself a gold badge!

We went on line last night to apply for BP-ID  you need an ID card to get into all those places for free now, because of "badge fraud" Confused

She got a bunch of other stuff too.......... but lets face it, it's the badge that is the true prize!

Rachel - you have every right in the world to wear the largest most smuggest of smug grins & reprogramme your entire personality to go into permanent smug mode.

A Gold Blue Peter Badge!

I tried & I tried as a kid... never even got a bog standard one (and eventually deserted to 'Magpie')

Please pass on sincere clappies:

Well done Rach and daughter.

I also got a Blue Peter badge for a painting that I did @ 1970.

I also got the Magpie equivalent(?) for a painting that I did for the 1970 World Cup? It's all a bit hazy. I can remember painting a picture of Gordon Banks for the Magpie comp'. Was Magpie in existance in 1970?

I wasn't one of those who watched either Blue Peter or Magpie,I watched both. Jenny Hanley....Cor!!!

Quick serious moment - yesterday, I posted a certain picture of a certain person, which on reflection was inappropriate in the context used; I was going to delete this as soon as I got into work this morning anyway, but to avoid being in any way connected to or tarred by appalling behaviour on another thread, this has now been deleted. I'll not discuss this matter on this thread, so if anyone wishes to discuss this, please PM me

Clap nice one Ms PC's daughter. Smuggnessabounds, as it rightly should - well done.

I never won anything either - sent dozen's of paintings in to Vision-on and not one made it to the Gallery (cue the music... dum..dee di dum-tee di dum). I did win second prize in the village painting comp when I was 8 - first prize went to a boy who coloured-in one of my discarded drawings Confused

Although I have NO idea what Jim is talking about, I would just like to make it clear that I have absolutley no objection to having my posts censored, edited or deleted by an Admin who is willing enough to delete his own and admit it in public....Clap

indeed, I deem it a privilege....LOL

anyway folks, yesterday, I went to Shugborough Hall in Staffs...I was the first one in and (just about) the last one out at 5pm...thoroughly fascinating place, and a highly recommended day out...

...I returned home via Wolverhampton, to see Queensryche do the entire OMI & II set, and 'Empire' encore...absolutely superb stage show, but Geoff Tate just can't hit the high notes any more...

oh well, its good to be back, and share some interesting GR reading...well done to Rachel's daughter on the BP award...that's really wonderful....Clap

David - Blue Peter is a children's TV show that has become a national institution, it began in 1958 and encourages kids to be creative in many areas and award a badge for the lucky ones (the Gold is the highest honour)  - sport, paintings, making things from sticky-backed-plastic and cereal boxes, looking after pets, etc, its wholesome presenters and some of the pets become very famous .
recently BP badges were being sold on ebay, some early ones for a lot of money, though this stopped after a public outcry  shaming those who sold their cherished badges! Disapprove

wowser! I saw OM1 at the Hammy O  (before it got named after some beer and a spacecraftWink )  and it was really really incredible and spesh through and through! I would kind of like to see the current tour show, but I really never "got" OM2  Confused
It's a bit like the original movie of Highlander compared to all the lousy spin-offs..........

^^yes, I tend to agree...OMII is musically rather 'average' and the story line not as gripping...but I went, because I honestly think it will be the last time I see them, and it was a suitable 'farewell'....
