I think Jon will recover and that Yes will do one last tour in a year or so. As for new music, who knows? It would be cool for them to give it one last shot.

Although I love Yes, I do not listen to them anymore. I remember them from the 70's, mainly.
 
There is SO much great prog being made today, to listen to. I mean how many times (although
a great album, can you listen to "Close To The Edge")
 
So many people are obsessed with Yes (look at Yesfans!), but, I feel you can miss all these other wonderful bands.

I think Jon's health problems has just put things on hold a bit. I think he was very much into the 40th aniversary tour and dissapointed that it can't take place.
 
I think they'll be back next year with perhaps a shorter tour schedule and maybe he might start coming up with a few musical ideas in the time he's laid up for the next (last?) album.

My sincere wish is that they call it a career.  They're all in their 60's now, and deserve to enjoy the rest of their lives without satisfying us.  I'm content with enjoying what they've done, and of course would enjoy the possibility of smaller, more intimate solo shows and the like.  But yeah, it's time to say thanks, and move on.
IMPEACH CHENEY FIRST!!!!

When the annoucement was made about Jon's health I read a post on the net that said that the person knew someone close to Jon and this was a bit of a smoke screen. He said that Jon had fallen out with the others and said that he would never tour with Yes again. About a week later the cancellation notice was posted on Yesworld.
 
I have no idea whether this is true or not but I do think that it is a distinct possibility. Yes has never been a band in perfect harmony off-stage. I think this is the last we will see of the 4 core members touring as Yes. Could see Squire, Howe and White doing something together but can't see Rabin or Horn fronting it. Lets face it Trevor Horn wouldn't sing with them on his Wembley "Produced By" gig. Trevor did play that one but struggled with the Anderson lead vocal on Owner. Can't see him doing a "Trevor Horn circa 1980" job and ruining his credability (and vocal chords!!!) by thrying to go out and replace Anderson on vocals. 
 
Just my personal view.

I think Jon should rest up and they should record a final album for a 41st anniversary, the 4-epic album idea that was brought up. Hopefully it won't be inferior to the Flower Kings.

thanks for the numerous views! as far as i am concerned, YES is over.
they deserve to be freed from that artistic straightjacket. time to
move on – plenty of new things to enjoy out there. i have a
feeling that as individual artists they will be with us for
many more moons to come but

this is an ex-group. it has ceased to be. it has flown from the earth to meet it's maker ---
progressive rock and rural tranquility don't match. true or false?

Yes will decide where and when, we can but formulate opinions.....
 
For me I would never tire of listening to CTTE or any Tales songs. Listening to Talk at the moment...fantastic stuff!

How about this for an idea....A "Drama" tour featuring Squire, Howe and White with Geoff Downes on Keys and Max Bacon on vocals. I was listening to Drama yesterday and I reckon Max Bacon could do a really good job on the vocals. He did a decent job on Roundabout for GTR too. It's not Jon but if they stuck to Drama and a couple of less-played classics like Parallels I reckon they could pull it off.

 Lol, funny this topic is braught up....I just got done watching the YesYears biography on these guys.....yes that was made some time ago but it was still very good, I know a bit more about the guys now ;)
 
Idk if the music can ever be the same if they made a new record, well I know it wont, which is why I almost wish they would simply continue playing the old good stuff, and come to wisconsin were I live!

Wish for some formation with Trevor Rabin back on the board... he is not only ace on the guitar (especially compared to nowadays Howe), but he can sing. Or Peter Banks and Tony Kaye and make Flash reunion:)

The issue here is not Steve Howe and even if it was, who the hell wants to see Cinema play. I want to hear YES play and I want the guy that was part of that group and all the magic that was YES, not Trevor Rabin. YUK Confused

:) Yes with Rabin has the as huge magic as 70s Yes (though from different perspective, not only from that prog-snobbish). And in live version they will be surely better imo. Reunion of sort of Cinema is actually good idea, when Jon is not able to be part of it.
