Topic: Yes – what will happen now? Posted: June 13 2008 at 09:48 |
now that the tour is cancelled, jon anderson needs to recuperate and any talk of new
"epic" YES material is speculative at best, what will happen in the immediate future,
i.e. what will jon's bandmates be up to during the next months? will squire finally
get an all-new material solo album done? will white resume touring and recording
with CIRCA: or will howe, given the good experience of "phoenix" opt for further
immediate work with ASIA (UK'09 dates are already booked)?
let the gossiping begin

A Squire solo album would be cool, something like Fish out of Water, or even better.
I hope that Jon gets better soon. And not because of hope for the tour, I don't expect that they come here again.

Steve Howe is playing small clubs in England; he'll be touring Canada in the fall. Generally speaking, I'm not too crazy about his solo albums, but I've no doubt he's chosen the right thing to do!

Steve Howe has commitements to Asia until mid- 2009... Chris Squire is definetly out of The Syn... Who knows? In the meantime why not dream about the supergroup of Wetton-Wakeman-Bruford that was to come in 1976, happening in 2009?

I'm hoping for a Return To Drama tour featuring Trevor Horn and Geoffrey Buggle. Since this lineup wouldn't be nearly as popular as a lineup featuring Anderson and Wakeman, they'd likely be playing smaller venues with cheaper tickets that I could actually afford.

I. personally, feel that Jon will not tour again (I hope I am wrong).
However. if he does tour,I imagine it will be an extremely limited tour.
So, I would Love to see a "Return To Drama" tour! That would be great!
(Or get Trevor Rabin on board, seeing that he sings on a lot of songs.)

The problem is TIME.....Jon Anderson is something like 64 years old. The others are a little bit younger, but Jon is the heart and soul of the band, like it or not.....How many more tours could happen, not that many and we don' t know if his voice will get back to what it used to be

Perhaps rather than an extensive tour, the focus should be on a few great venues recorded for DVD release so all of us get to see them. To me this is the way concerts should go in the future. It would save a lot of wear and tear on the performers -- and the audience. Last concert I tried to go to (not Yes) someone threw up nearby and I had trouble hearing over all the idiots trying to scream into their cell phones during the show. My concerts will be in my living room from now on.

I Don't even care about a tour anymore! I would just like to see Jon get well again
and finish a final CLASSIC Yes album, so that they and us Yes lovers could cherish a last
masterpiece and let them ride into the sunset of a peacefull retirement.

What will YES end up doing??? I have no idea, my crystal ball is in the shop for repairs.
Ask me what I wish they would do and that's another matter.
Jon uses that six months to rest and spark that ol' creative intellect he has been known for.
The guys get together to iron it all out. They release the album to the world and follow it up with a 'Thanks and See Ya Later' world tour

I don't really care for yet another best-of tour... Steve Howe Trio is much more adventurous and interesting, and I hope Howe can develop it more in this longer break from Yes. See more abot SH Trio here: http://www.marbecks.co.nz/detail/index.lsd?catalogID=464088

Yes has put out many great albums and more than a few questionable ones. I do suspect they will become a part of prog history before too long. I salute them for their contribution to great prog in the '70's

Jon Anderson will turn into a unicorn. Chris Squire will duel with Geddy Lee at sunrise. Rick Wakeman will try to perform a spectacular show on a frozen lake, but it will collapse and he'll freeze to death. Alan White will legally change his name to Bill Bruford so people will care about him. And Steve Howe will invest in cryogenic freezing technology in hopes that he will be unfrozen in a time where he could conceivable be considered attractive.

I'm just wishing they release another Tales, or CTTE. Not the same Quality or innovation but you know the rumours, the Epics and all.
Songs like The Ladder, New Language, Mind Drive, etc. But all in an entire album.
