Topic: Favorite David Bowie album Posted: June 09 2008 at 23:38 |
I am just getting into Bowie, its almost stupid how long I waited, but well...
Also, if you have enough albums, a top 5 or 10 would be nice. Thanks

Any of those where he's working with someone on the proggier side of things. Haven't tried any of the earlier stuff (depending on how you define that).

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I love the ones not called "...hours." Or "Young Americans."
Lately, I've been digging:
1. Scary Monsters 2. Low 3. Lodger 4. Earthling (?!?!) 5. Heathen
Amazingly, I don't have any of his folky or glammy albums. Yet.

1 The Man Who Sold The World
2 Station To Station
3 Space Oddity
4 Low
5 Diamond Dogs
... And I'm more than happy to listen to a Bowie anthology - the Bowie at the Beeb - the BBC Sessions is a particular favourite of mine.

THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD ...I grew up with this one during the 70s...too many good times to remember when i listen to it.
I do love the first 5 Bowie albums......left when he turned ''american'' funk/soul..you name it, not my cup of tea...i don' think his ''experiments'' with ENO were that experimental.
Actually he came back strong at the beginning of the millenium with HOURS and HEATHEN, kind of a back to the roots virage.

I actually liked Outside, probably his proggiest effort ever, a sweeping concept-like disc with some shimmering moments.

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

I voted Lodger. I'm a fan of the "Berlin Trilogy" + Scary Monsters.

Aladdin Sane for me.
Station to Station Lodger Ziggy Stardust Low Heathen Hunky Dory Man Who Sold the World Space Oddity Young Americans
Scary Monsters Never Let Me Down David Bowie Tonight Black Tie White Noise Reality Tin Machine I Tin Machine II Let's Dance
In order and like them all. The only Bowie album I haven't been able to enjoy is Outside because it's production and songs are kind of bad sounding to my ears.

I can't choose, it's usually a three way tie between Hunky Dory, The Man Who Sold the World, and Low for me.
