I am astonished to have not seen any discussion on this subject. The Championships start today! So, I decided to start this thread.

Tomorrow Poles play with Germans. We have never won with Germans so far... Well, there must always be the first time, right? German friends, get ready for The Battle of Grunwald (Tannenberg) part 2! Wink

I'm focused on tomorrow of course - Germany vs. Poland 20:45
Invited by a Polish friend we'll hopefully have a nice evening with Bratwurst and Zubrowka which should have a remis as the result.

But I'm afraid this desire will not be accomplished ...

 Germany vs. Poland 2:0

As an outsider I was going to say 2-0 as well. But it would be nice if the Poles would perform a stunt tonight.

I'm happy either way, just as long as The Netherlands (my country of birth) will win the tournament LOL . That won't be easy, though, I suppose.

Probably the tighest finalist groups ever. Perhaps another surprise is in store ? Question whether defence wins it (Hello Greece) or offence finally rules supreme. As a Canadian,  I am rooting for the Swiss or the Dutch. Let the big boys beat each other up . I just hope the most beautiful play wins top prize for the beautiful game.

Actually Tuz, the Battle of Tannenberg Pt 2 has already taken place (during WWI) and the Germans won; they were fighting Russians, though. Wink

Yeah, 2 - 0 for Germany it's going to be.

Even if the Germans win tomorrow, the Poles will win too - there's a couple of them playing for Germany...

The Eurochampionship is a festival with players coming from everywhere pretending they are "nationals" of the jackets they use - not very appealing for me. Confused

Oh yeah. What a match it was by Poland, and particularly Smolarek. Fantastic exhibition.

Indeed, It was a great match by Poland, but tonight our boys didn't manage to beat Germans (and two Poles). Did you see Podolski's reactions after each goals he scored? He wasn't happy. I think his heart was broken each time he scored.

But I still hope we will beat other opponents and qualify to the next round...

I'm supporting Holland this time round as a mate of mine is Dutch and is a seriously top geezer. Also my shower of heavily over-paid prima-donnas who could not hit the proverbial cows' arse with an oversized banjo are relaxing on there hols. Bless there astronomical weekly wage.
