Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, 11 minutes of four chords, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!

I'm sorry, but I'm obviously a superior avant-garde listener being able to tolerate such abstract things that most of you mundanes cannot tolerate or understand. Pah, I say. Pah

The Awkward Wind Wheel FTW. Best song off BLD at the moment for me.

Listen to the title track more.  #4 Kayo track overall.

1. The Manifold Curiosity
2. Wayfarer
3. Immortelle and Paper Caravelle
4. Blue Lambency Downward
5. Aura on An Asylum Wall

__ On Limpid Form: first off, the first five or six minutes are some of the most beautiful music I know and if you don't like them you suck (see sig).  For the last twelve, the development is slow, but it does occur and the tension is palpable (I love that word, I can just imagine palpating things!).  It's understandable not liking it, but there are far worse things that have happened to music.  For example: Dream Theater (see sig).

Amaranth the Peddler: easily the most noodly song on Dowsing, but that's not a bad thing.  The first four minutes create an incredible tension that is perfectly resolved with that awesome mini-climax that occurs around 4-4.5 minutes in.  The last six minutes wind down the album.  Not a lot happens, but after 50 minutes where everything has happened, the slow ending is the right way to end it.  It's not a perfect ending (it should be about half as long IMO), but it works reasonably well and it certainly doesn't ruin the album.

I agree with you about the start of ___On Limpid Form, its wonderful to say the least, but those last 12-14 minutes have negligable development. I'm not saying there is no changes their, but at the end the music is effectively in the same place that it started in and its still ass dreary as ever.

I kind of agree with you about the start of Amaranth as well, though I dont think its that succesful at creating tension, though the climax is good. As to its ending, it reminds me of the neding to The Antique, but its  nowhere near as interesting as The Antique.

As for being burned at the stake, your coment about Dream Theater means you have now volentiered to take my place.Wink

Exactly, I have "no volentiered (sic)"

And the ending of __ OLF is further away from the start of the "dreary section" than you think.

Hehe. I have to agree. The album does not deserve 3 stars just because one doesn't like 1/2 of each of the finale songs, especially when the rest is so good. And especially when said songs are so good...

I gave it five

I must be a pretentious asshole or something, because __On Limpid Form is one of my favorite Kayo Dot songs; in my top 3. Here was my list from days ago:

1. Marathon
2. ___On Limpid Form
3. Right Hand Is The One I Want
4. The Antique
5. A Pitcher Of Summer (I just love these lyrics...)

Though now I'd probably put BLD title track at number 3, as it's my favorite off the new album by far, instead of Right Hand...which I still like, but not as much.

Point is, I really love __On Limpid Form.

^In other words, you two dont want me to express my opinions in a review because they differ from yours. I think you've just won the awards for most obnoxious and stuck up people on PA.

BTW, it might be the endings of the last wo songs that I dont like mostly, but the songs a sa whole dont work because of that, and those two acount for more than half the album, hence the 3 star rating.

For the record, I was joking. Or not so much joking as not being serious. I, obviously, have no room to tell you not to review something, but I am as entitled to my opinion as your are, eh?

Not sure about Pnoom! though. I don't care if you don't like them. Don't care at all.

Also, if you read Pnoom!'s signature, you might understand where he's coming from.

Give it one star if you want. The T did once, but I think he moved it up. I don't care personally. I gave it five, because I love every second of that album, almost as much as Choirs.

Sorry, I just saw Pnoom saying dont review it and you agreeing  and it annoyed me a bit. I cant say I've traded banter with yourself or Pnoom! much over the years so without smilies its hard to tell when someones joking or not.

Yeah, that's why I have my sig, because I often forget to use smilies but I'm usually joking.  As I was in this case.

Always cool.

What would you give the other KD albums in comparison to Dowsing...?

Also, I hate Kayo Dot.

On a more true note, I have come to like maudlin of the Well more than Kayo Dot. No joke. Just happened. Bath (review here) and Leaving Your Body Map are like two slices of heavenly perfection.
