That photo of the BoB Memorial Flight is brilliant, Neil!

I've been lucky in the past and have seen many rare classics, including some now sadly either not in existence, or no longer flying, such as:

BoB Memorial Flight
B17 "Sally B"
De Havilland Mosquito - it sadly crashed many years back
Messerschmitt Bf109G-2 - it crashed but was rebuilt as static and is now in Hendon
Fairy Swordfish - still flying (I got up really close to that too!)
Avro Vulcan (the one that was flying years ago, not the one that's just recently been restored)
Bristol Blenheim
Many Spitfires, including Carolyn Grace's Tr9
Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Sea Fury
Hawker Hunter
Gloster/AW Meteor
Bristol Freighter - it crashed as well, it was one of only 3 flying at the time
Many DH60 Gipsy Moths and many DH82 Tiger Moths, including a Thruxton Jackaroo modified version

Plus many more I forget for the moment.

I never have seen a BAC/EE Lightning fly though, which saddens me.  I know Dean has though and I'm envious!  The last one in service flew in about 1988 or so and was replaced by the Panavia Tornado.  Urgh!

That reminds me, I must scan my old aviation photos in sometime in the future.  You never know when someone might need one.

That's right - his friends call him

You should hear what everyone else calls him...

Hmm - it wasn't a case of "Won't get fooled again", more like "We weren't fooled at all, but didn't get a bloody choice"

But here's some better news:

We're pleased to bring you the news we have all been waiting for....

At long last we're delighted to be able to announce that Planet Rock's

future is now secure. We have been purchased by life long rock and radio

fan Malcolm Bluemel and his consortium supported by our very own Tony

Iommi, Ian Anderson , Gary Moore, and Fish, saving Planet Rock from

certain closure.

In a deal finalised today Malcolm takes control of the station with

immediate effect, there will be no break in transmission or changes in

programming.

Everyone at the station is over the moon and more than a little relieved

that we've got the outcome we hoped for and that the wait is over. Now we

can get back to normal.

Thanks to everyone of you for your amazing support it really has been

overwhelming, the individual email messages, the petitions to the Prime

Minister and Ofcom, the incredible tenacity of the Save Planet Rock web

site and to those groups who tried unsuccessfully to buy the station, you

have all been an inspiration to all of us here at Planet Rock. You are all

very special.

We are all looking forward to working with Malcolm. His passion for rock

music and his love for the station can only help us in our aim to make

Planet Rock the best rock station in the world....ever.

Thanks for listening and keep rockin'

Planet Rock HQ

When people get lost in thought it's often because it's unfamiliar territory.

Damn it, that means my reworking of Golden Brown isn't valid anymore!

Gordon Brown, Tax-charging son, Gordon Brown, not having that much fun, walking around, not making a sound, losing his crown, hey Gordon Brown...

Seems like he's a sex machine instead... what a horrible thought!
