ooooook, well, I'm critical of your govt. but I'd rather be here than in Argentina for sure.
For whoever said several weeks ... even if it's a few months away from the General Election? If so, that's great. Edited by Zitro - June 02 2008 at 14:05 |

Well, I also want to be an astronaut among many other things, just some of them aren't probable. I'd like to move out after finishing college, but whether or not that will be a possibility is an entirely different matter. Maybe my view is skewed because I live in New Jersey :P there are a lot of places within the US that I want to visit. |

Easy Chief.....Alec Baldwin threatened to leave the U.S. too if George Bush was elected. Did he?....No of course not. It's just the cool thing to say while typing on your expensive computer across a high speed internet infrustructure while being protected by the world's leading national defense, being paid wages higher than most other countries and having access to buy products inexspensively in comparison to the average net wage and enjoying voting rights while being able to freely travel anywhere in the country and even paying less for a gallon of fuel than most European countries do and complaining how bad they have it here.
I hear Cuba is nice this time of year though.

Of course, because everything everybody ever says on the internet should be taken 100% seriously. |

Zitro, I always thought there was a period of waiting but I have no idea what the rules currently are. Why not just call the people in charge and ask? YOu must have some information that has been sent to you? Or you should be able to get a fact like this from the offical Gov site that handles this.

Zitro, try the site we are using as a resource in our wait for my visa:
www.visajourney.com Every information is very detailed, and there is a section of the forums dedicated to naturalisation. Best of luck to you for the ceremony! I'll invite you to mine, if there's ever going to be one... Just a quick remark: I deleted most of my posts because I felt I'd let out too much personal information, and realised that people can't really understand my situation. As someone else said here, we all tend to see our own situation very negatively, and fall victim of the old 'the grass is greener' syndrome. I've seen it when living in Finland, where people enjoy privileges that we Italians can only dream of. Believe me, I'm well aware that the US are far from perfect, but I have chosen to move there, and I want to make the best of it. Ah, and I'm 47, not 70 ![]() |

Chill out man, I think everyone else here understood those posts were light hearted and poking a bit of fun at American society and the system. ClemofNazareth's post was quite clearly poking fun, the LOL emoticon made that pretty obvious. And given Bluesaga is going to begin college relatively soon, I kinda suspect he isn't exactly leaving the US anytime soon. I love this place because people can keep the humor going, and people getting too serious about things just make the place kinda dull. It's just the internetz people, there is no threat of being killed, the worry of paying taxes and the bills like in the flesh and blood world outside of the internet. And to finish it off, to quote Bluesaga "Of course, because everything everybody ever says on the internet should be taken 100% seriously." I believe Bluesaga is tipping his hat to a little sarcasm in that last remark. Edited by HughesJB4 - June 03 2008 at 10:14 |

I know nothing about the United States citizen stuff but I do know that the U.K. one is pretty interesting. They ask you questions about football and owning a dog and drivers license and the law on 14 year olds working but nothing about the government or the history of the place.
I don't know this from personal experience but from a friend. Gotta love being able to be a citizen of 2 countries without having to take any tests. ![]() |

There are a lot of things I like about the US, just its current government and society is a huge turn off, although it's probably almost as bad in Europe, the news here seems to only cover politics to the extent of an American-Idolized "Elephants vs. Donkeys" but instead of singing lame songs that the majority of the population wants to hear, they spew typical bullsh*t that the majority of the population wants to hear. Which means even Americans who watch the news regularly still have little idea about what is happening in the world since it's plagued with celebrity sh*t (they don't care about us, why should people care about them so much?), pseudo-politics, silly irrelevant stories, and fear-provoking stories. At least if Obama wins I'll be content with 1/3 of the system of checks and balances. ;) *I wrote a few paragraphs here but then deleted them since I don't want to piss off the 10% of the right population on PA plus it makes me appear more annoying than I already am. I guess all non-conservatives are pussies indeed ![]() Edited by Bluesaga - June 06 2008 at 21:39 |

I agree that the celebrity sh*t is completely out of control. What's next in American society? Oprah campainging for a presidential contender? Oh wait... that already happened.
