Topic: Your favourite of these classic gangster movies... Posted: June 01 2008 at 15:42 |
All three are incredible, from Al Pacino's fantastic performances in The Godfather and Scarface and the first class acting in Goodfellas, but it's the latter for me, simply because of the intricate and fast paced plotline.

Godfather is unbeatable. Goodfellas is cool, but can't compare to the godfather saga.
I never actually understood why people like scarface so much. It's a great performance from pacino for sure, but all around I don't think it's that great of a movie.

1932 Scarface. Out of those, The Godfather.

Being a major Al Pacino freak this is a hard one.The Godfather is a cinematic masterpiece with incredible performances by a great ensemble cast, but I have to go with Scarface.Pacino is just brimming with intensity in that movie, and I am still captivated by his performance in it to this day.

The Godfather obviously!.
Scarface was bad and boring as hell, and it was a remake with Oliver Stone implanted into it. Goodfellas just wasn't all it was hyped up to be.

I have to admit, The Godfather has to be one of the most intricately crafted pieces of film i have ever watched, but you don't get it straight away: it does take a bit of time to appreciate the role of each character and then it is timeless. However, Goodfellas for me is just BAM!!! straight in, great storyline, great action, great characters. Not taking anything away from the other two however, Pacino is a fine actor (just watched Devil's Advocate: untouchable performance from Pacino there as well)

Godfather, although I'd vote for the other two over Godfather III.

Three great choices. You can't go wrong with these three best gangster movies ever (in my view). Scarface is excellent, Goodfellas' rhythm and storytelling is out-of-this-earth (Scorsese's best hour ever... better than Raging Bull or Taxi Driver)... But with me, nothing can compete with a movie that I have watched 17 TIMES in its entirety and 3 or 4 more already started.... My favorite movie is the perfect movie, where all elements fit together into a masterpiuece that defines masterpieces: The Godfather.
