Jump the shark refers to an episode of Happy Days where "The Fonz" jumps a shark while waterskiing. It basically is when a show runs out of gas/ideas or just becomes bad.

There is a website www.jumptheshark.com  that lists TV shows and fans can vote on when a TV show became bad.

Have you not read about the enormous death toll resulting from the immense viewership of this show that has been buried by the media ? You are surely aware that even the U.N. has proclaimed this the greatest evil that humanity has faced during its' entire existence. I mean, how long before the revolution begins and the TV studios are stormed with no mercy spared for the audience, judges, and contestants ?
Wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooooooooooooooopppppppppppssssssss !

I just remembered. This is mass media mainstream entertainment. One that many enjoy. Not that I care for it. But I've somehow managed to NOT watch the damn show by either changing the channel if I'm watching TV; reading if my wife is watching it, or at times just going down to the basement and playing guitar.
Mind you, for some, actually using their freedom of choice, or worse, allowing others their own freedom to choose, seems to elicit inane remarks that try to position one as somehow superior because one is above & beyond even tolerating such trifling entertainment. Did I mention that that is what Idol is ? Entertainment !
Did I really need to ?

I agree.

This post was basically the point when this thread de-jumped the shark.. or jumped it the other way, if you will.

This is why we have lost great abundance of new creative bands outthere. Or if they are outthere you have to search indie sites etc or even PA. Beacuse we are " Amused To Death" via the precious TV Box and force fed idolism.

The problem is that it is admirable to see someone stand up in front of 35 million viewers and try hold it together but sadly by and large the music never gets above karoake ( sp?) status. So even if the music is pure crap you have to admire their nerve.
