^ I feel as though I am being baited. I'll lay low on this one. My brash predictions for the Tigers have completely failed so I won't make any for the Wings.
It is amazing what a few 1st overall draft picks can do for a team. It seems that just last summer we were talking about the possibility for the Kansas City Penguins, and now they are in the Stanley Cup finals. I am hoping that the Red Wings will join them tonight. It will be nice to see Sid the Kid up close and personal. I am pretty sure that he has not played in Detroit yet during his career. Pittsburgh came to Detroit earlier this year I believe but it was while he was out with his injury. Both teams have had spectacular playoffs to-date. (And obviously if the Stars end up pulling out this series they should be a good series too).

Somebody forgot to tell the Stars that they can't skate with the Red Wings. No matter what happens the fans in Dallas are proud of 'em. It would have been easy to fold the tents and call it a season when they were down 3 games to none. Game on!

Hmmm, not so fast Prog-Boy.
From what I've been reading, the Pens are favored by most sources.
Don't take Lidstrom, Rafalski & Kronwall too lightly. These guys aren't push-overs. It ain't gonna be easy for either team, but Detroit is much better than the fodder the Pens faced in the East.
I've got a few CDs I'd be wiling to put up against your bet.

Stanley Cup finals are tonight, and I am the first to post about it today. That is the sad state of affairs of the NHL. Anybody out here in Prog Land with Versus who might actually watch the game tonight??? I actually lucked out and got a ticket from my boss so I will be trekking down to the Joe for game 1. Hoping for a good clean game with lots of blood, sweat and tears and of course a Red Wing victory. Big day in Detroit, with the Pistons also playing the Celtics in game 3 of the NBA finals. The Celtics haven't won on the road this year, so hopefully the Pistons continue that trend.
Go Wings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do I hear correctly that Penguins "taste just like chicken"?

What a sweet game to be in attendance at. Detroit 4 Pittsburgh 0. It was 1 to 0 after 2 periods so it was alot more exciting then that score sounds.
Downtown Detroit is also hosting the annual techno music festival this weekend. so it was a real madhouse downtown tonight.

Stringy chicken... after game 3.
I'm not worried about the Wings control, however, Lilja needs to go. Sure Brad stuart caused one goal, but Lilja was out of position throughout the game. The guy needs to go. I think Cheli would be much better in this series.

I am not certain, but I think that Cheli hasn't played because of a leg injury. Stuart looked really bad last night though. He caused the 1st goal with a bad pass. But it was also him who left his spot in front of the net that left Crosby wide open for the 2nd goal. Not to mention that the puck went off of him and past Osgood on the save that Osgood made where he grabbed the puck just before it crossed the line. It was definitely a good game last night. A lucky bounce either way and the game could have had a different outcome. I'm still not sure how Holmstrom missed the empty net in the 3rd period, but he managed to hit the post. That miss was pretty huge. Franzen looked lost the first part of the game. He had a couple of opportunities that he would have put away before he got hurt. Franzen looked great on his goal and afterwards. That was poor defense on the Penguins part, but after he scored that goal, he really started to play well.
I'm not surprised that the Penguins won game 3. They are too good of a team to be swept 4 - 0 and to not score any goals. Hopefully, the Wings will take care of business on Saturday and come home with a chance to win the Cup on home ice in Game 5.

Not this time Danbo!
What a nail biter last night. The Pens looked pretty ragged in the first OT period, absolutely no puck control and they were sloppy on the power play. But thank God for Fleury, who was excellent in OT.

The Wings absolutely dominated almost the entire game, except for where it counts: on the scoreboard. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. It seems like all playoffs long the Wings have not been able to score into an empty net when they have a 1 goal lead and the chance to put it away, and yesterday it finally came back to bite them. Those goaltender interference calls in OT were a bunch of BS, but they didn't have an effect on the bottom line. Hudler's 4 minute minor for highsticking was one of those unfortunate things that happens; can't complain about the call and as soon as it happened you pretty much knew that the Pens were going to win. I do hope that the Pens give the Ref a portion of any playoff winnings for his assist with his ass on the final goal. It definitely took a gratuitous bounce for the Pens by keeping the puck behind the Wings net, which seems to be about the only place that the Pens have given the Wings troubles defensively. Oh well. I definitely got my cardio-vascular exercise in watching that game last night. Hopefully, the puck will bounce the Wings way on Wednesday.

The Wings did dominate much of the game, but the Pens had some moments. It'll be interesting to see who is able (if either are after a triple overtime) to come out flying Wednesday Night. The other point is whether Osgoode regains his composure as he seemed iffy at times. Oh, by the way, did you notice that the worse the Pens play, the more Fleury handles the puck behind his net. And not always successfully, for those who saw Saturday's game.

Peter Sykora's 1st North American team was the Detroit Vipers of the IHL. Him and Sergei Samsonov were their first two picks in their inaugural season. I don't really remember seeing him play that much that season because he got hurt early on but I was a fixture at Vipers' game throughout most of their short history. Sadly they went defunct when the IHL went defunct and merged with the AHL. My point of this post is that I have always kept an eye out on his career since he was a former Viper and I also like Peter Sykora, although I am a bit sore at him at the moment. That will hopefully go away after game 6.

Ozzy definitely didn't play his best game last night. Fleury was definitely the Penguin's saviour last night, although giving up 3 goals in a playoff game is generally not advised. Both goalies got some help from the hockey gods last night in the form of crossbars, goal posts, and gravity. Datsyuk could have had a few goals last night, and Samuelson, Franzen, and Holmstrom all missed golden opportunities for getting the puck into wide open nets past Fleury, but instead shot the puck into him or kept it on the ice instead of lifting it over him. I really can't see the Penguins beating the Wings twice more given how much better the Wings look, but anything can happen in ice hockey.
