I really like this album alot. It may not be really a progressive offering by Jon Anderson but it's got some really nice songs on it. It's upbeat and a bit poppy but it's a fun album.

Crap, that didn't work so well. It was supposed to be In The City Of Angels by Jon Anderson.

Solo album by Gustavo Montesano, the singer/bassist of Argentine prog band Crucis. Yeah, its not as great as Crucis' two albums, but it has its own merits. The atmospheric instrumentals are nice, and it does boast two really complex progressive tracks. The ballad-ish tracks do suck, though... Montesano isn't exactly a great singer. All in all, a neglected album that Crucis fans tend to dismiss. |

Hola Pablo
Yes FINAL CUT is very dark, but some songs are beautiful: GUNNERS DREAM,MEMORIAL FLETCHER, the Title track and a few others; we just have to be in the right mood for this album
Depressing can be beautiful, even uplifting, you know
I even open last week an appreciation thread for the FINAL CUT!!!.........Not too many feedbacks so far

I have been insulted regularly for liking this "rap" album by Jethro Tull, "Under Wraps" . Universally torpedoed mainly because it was compared to previous "grandeur" . There are some super melodies there, OK the sound is very similar to Anderson's solo "Walk under Light" but I listen to them like Soviet kids with the Beatles back in the USSR in the late 60's : without any squealer hearing it, under the bed , under wraps! Shhhhhhh, don't rat me out!

I am obsessed with Meshuggah. They have modest ratings here on PA, but I think they're pretty hard to swallow if you consider yourself mostly a traditional prog fan. If and when I start reviewing, I plan on giving D/E/I, Chaosphere, Nothing (Remaster), Catch 33, and Obzen all five stars.... with very detailed explanation and reason, of course. I am fully convinced that they are pure art, and much more progressive than most acts that claim to be prog..... they just come in a very inaccessible package.

Trouble is my middle name . When Under Wraps came out the most progressive thing was Ultravox, for Moog's sake ! A time when synths popped all over the place (I recall this PA fan really into Depeche Mode , hmmm I wonder who it is!) . The topic is clearly a confessional , you sins, guilty ones, laughable ones etc..... We are so weak , just 90% water! the rest is Prog! Ha!

Rick Wakeman - White Rock This album is one of Wakeman's most organic and natural sounding. Free of any self-indulgence and with plenty of emotion. Probably in my top3 from his whole discography and many people don't like it much.
Pain of Salvation - Scarsick With crystal-clear production, emotion (in the form of angst), variety, and accessibility, this is one of my faves from them. Lots of people gave it 1 or 2 stars. Flower Kings - Adam & Eve Usually their least-rated album. While I feel that the second half is subpar from them, the first is the Flower Kings at their best and a half is 30+ minutes u know? Yes - Open Your Eyes I can enjoy most of it, while the majority say this is an abomination. Led Zeppelin - In Throughout the Out Door. Apart from the repetitive In The Evening and a couple of dumb tracks, this album has some overlooked gems, especially the closing tracks, which is one of my all-time fave led zep tracks. the album is not an abomination. ummm, i don't know if there are others I missed |

At first I didn't love City of Echoes, but I've owned it since September last year and it is seriously growing on me now. The more I listen to Spaceship Broken—Parts Needed, the more I like it.

Okay! Finally got mine together!
Yes - Tormato (PA's Rating: 2.98 | My rating 3.5) A good album with problems mostly coming from a battle of egos in the studio it seems. Still a fun listen. Favorite track: On The Silent Wings Of Freedom ABWH - ABWH (PA's Rating: 3.12 | My rating 4) An excellent offering from what should have been Yes. The best of the 80s mixed with nice 70s elements. Only one bad track. Favorite track: Fist of Fire Supertramp - Brother Where You Bound (PA's Rating: 3.71 | My rating: 5) A great return to form after the loss of a key member. A darker album than Tramp is used to with an excellent epic shoved in for good measure featuring the talents of none other than David Gilmour! Favorite Track: Brother Where You Bound (tied with) Better Days Spock's Beard - Spock's Beard (PA's Rating: 3.33 | My rating 4) First album to really get over the fact that Morse isn't around. Still kind of uneven, but it has some of the best stuff that the band has done since V. Alan Morse also seems to be taking a step for the lead roll with guitar starting to overpower keys. Favorite Track: Rearranged So there you have it. And I even managed to avoid any Rush! |

I have a feeling that most people at PA wouldn't like most of the music I regularly listen to if they heard it.
Here's one that springs to mind. I don't like it much, but I still like it, and this is loathed by a number of Zeuhlers. Not a good album, and not one I often put on, but still one I'm glad I have, but then I am something of a Zeuhl completist. It may only be a one star Zeuhl album, but it beats the hell out of most teeny-bop bubblegum pop albums. Musique Noise. 1988 Fulmines Regularis |

IMO The Final Cut is one of the most beautiful Floyd albums, more polished than the Wall, that would be one of mine any all the Roger Waters album especially ATD
Yes - Tormato is incredible ( still in a time warp) and I would have to go with " Onward"
Gravy Train - A Ballad of a Peaceful Man - Jule's Delight
Strawbs - Deep Cuts - a 5 star classic!!

Well, there's a couple a Tull albums that I'm sure no one saw coming...
Too Old is not among my favorite Tull albums, but it's pretty solid all the same, and I don't see what's wrong with it at all. However, Minstrel (which DOES get bashed from time to time) is a weird lil' pocket of emotional catharsis that pleases me whenever I put it on, and Broadsword is definitely an underrated 80's gem. And, although perhaps not a gem, Catfish Rising (and the subsequent live Little Light Music) does not get any good press at all.
I'll also defend the two "weakest" classic Doors albums: The Soft Parade (which is somewhat over produced with strings and horns and crap, but still manages to have more than a couple of good songs on it, including some fine Jimbo compositions and an outstanding title track) and Morrison Hotel (which is a solid, if not outstanding, collection of...well, Doors songs. Just good Doors songs. Maybe it's the blues that puts people off, but that's where the strongest material is).
And, what's this? I'm aware that The Wall is not the most popular Floyd album ever, but the thing really is the band's masterpiece. I'm sorry, but that's just the truth. Nowhere else in their catalogue are they so focused, so deep, so personal.
