Hey, I'm Polish as well. Lucas too. Of course, the only Polish language I know is the kind that gets your mouth smacked. My grandparents went with the total assimilation thing at the turn of the last century. Even my parents did not speak Polish on a regular basis. You resemble a couple of my nephews. |

Is that your mouse, or your rat you're holding, oh pleasant, mellow-looking untalkative young man? BTW, your house appears to be sliding into a sinkhole.... You might want to step outside and see if all is well! Edited by Peter Rideout |

My wife is Polish...3rd generation, and she doesn't know more than half a dozen words of the language. Me, I'd love to be able to read Lem in the original language, but I get scared when the consonants gang up on me like that.

Stanislaw Lem! Good stuff, James! What did you think of the (2002) movie version of that classic novel? I enjoyed it!

You know, I actually haven't seen it yet...Clooney was so good in Perfect Storm that I really should give it a chance. Apparently there was a Russian version, too- that might be interesting. Predictably, Lem dislikes both films- but Stephen King never liked Kubrick's "The Shining", either, and I enjoyed the film long after I stopped getting any pleasure out of King's books. It's always tough to make a film out of a story with a lot of non-visual concepts...I read a funny story once about Jerry Garcia pitching a film version of Vonnegut's "Sirens of Titan" to Francis Ford Coppola when they were working on the music for "Apocalypse Now". FFC is supposed to have said: "You can't make a movie out of that- it's philosophy." |

Er, thanks. Dick Weed. I mean, Reed... I hadn't had any beer yet, so I was a bit tense. You should post something recent. Ya know, instead of your 15 year training bra photo. Edited by danbo |
