James recommended that one for me a while back...but those 'talking' vocals sound a little much.

the music is worth the chance.. and with some patience perhaps... you'll find that it fits the music perfectly... in fact.. after getting to know the album... you'd come to think that 'singing' would take away from the album. A challenging album.. but one OH so worth the chance.. and worth the possible expenditure of patience. Guillermo (Memowakeman) hasn't reviewed it.. but got it on my suggestion.. and loved it. Check it out.

It's a painstaking effort to sort through a bunch of albums that all receive an equal amount of praise.

that's why I guess.. you will probably at some point own all these albums... I could have put Biglietto per L'Inferno in Battiato's spot.. etc. they are all that good.

Perhaps in a not so distant future.
But now I really need breakfast. See you around, if not afterwards probably later tonight.

#13 Alphataurus - s/t
A hard one for me to recommend. This is an album that might be exactly in the vein you are looking for.. however.. outside of the KILLER lead track.. which is a sample here.. this album never 'caught' me. However.. a LOT of people love this album and rank this high in their list of favs. This being a list of recommendations for you and not merely what I like best. You should get this album.. check the sample.. LOVE that song.

Feels like a strong three, for all the numbers are worth. I'll give it a few more spins just to feel certain. I feel like reviewing something really familiar for once, like Rush or Kansas. Or Beatles.

Thanks Domizia, I love Esagono's classic disc. Will have to look for this one.
Mick, hope you will compile your list into one post when you're finished! So far looks great!!
Linus...RRR is a must at some point....of course they all are so that's not very helpful I realize

...that moment you realize you like "Mob Rules" better than "Heaven and Hell"

he ..sh*t... did play with other groups I believe.. then became a HIGHLY regarded session drummer... Let me check my book on both of them. |
back to this topic, I came across a band called Duello Madre from 1973, both Callero and Zocchedu were in the lineup (but the drummer was different). They only released one album, you can listen to it at their myspace page...that signature bass style is obviously there, but now the overall sound is more jazzy, in fact this falls squarely into he RPI jazz section. Greg Walker has the mini-LP, I'd go for it if I didn't already have a ton of stuff on the list Maybe next time...

thanks.... yes... I will.. and then will start it's companion list... obviously.. I"m skipping a LOT of albums.. consider this one I"m doing...the 'black' list.. the next one will be the 'white' list. I know Linus likes the more passionate or aggressive..stuff.. I think only 2 of the albums (Battiato and Delirium) really differ from that.
