I'd say a lot of their stuff up until News of The World had prog elements, and if its not prog its still progressive, which is not the same thing, of course.
And I love queen, every member knew how to write a good song, and they were excellent musicians with a unique sound.
My favorite albums from them are Sheer Heart Attack and Night at the Opera.

Not prog at all except for all of two songs, and decent, but neither good nor bad.

that's generous. I've always seen their work as "Killer Queen" followed by a desolate failmine

I'm not really certain about where Queen really stands genre wise, I find the classification of prog to be very fuzzy and broad.
Queen certainly have songs that sound prog, The Prophets Song comes to mind.
But either way, they're such a unique and diverse band, I think prog would actually be too much of a limiting term for them, and they have a mass appeal that no other prog band has (save Pink Floyd, if you consider them prog)... More than anything they're just another band to pigeonhole into the art rock (or crossover prog or whatever you call it now) or prog related category along with Led Zeppelin and whatever.
I'd say they're good where they're at, listed as prog related on the archives, Steve Howe played on Inuendo afterall. But then again Howe has also played for Lou Reed.

You could put the option "Queen II and bad"

Subjectively, you don't want to know my opinion..
Being somehow objective, they're good, but not prog.
My true opinion is they su**, but that's just a personal matter, as I said, they have good rock stuff, but really before getting to them, that IMO they're 2nd category of hard rock, I highly prefer Deep Purple and kings of the genre, before the queens of it

"Prophet's Song" off "A Day at the Races" is quite simply one of the best prog tracks ever recorded. That's enough for me. Are the majority of their songs prog? Probably not. But most of the material they put out after "Jazz" was inferior and the first four albums were definitely more prog than not, in my book.

I went with not prog and good. I like their earlier works. Like most bands they ran out of material and just made music for either commitments or money. I miss the days of their first 4 albums. Good band live. I caught their tour for Queen II. Good show, good music.

But you are being objective by saying they suck , so there is no big deal.I know that the band has many fanboys that wont accept it.I once was banned from a forum becouse I said they suck.
The question is : What do they suck?

They are good. Generally non-prog with the exception of their best albums, which can be considered prog, but generally, thay aren't prog, so option 3 for me.
