On topic-ish:
I've had PFM's Per Un Amico for quite a while now, and I've worked out why I don't think it's a masterpiece. Very consistent album with really great music throughout, but it didn't really convey the emotion, visuals or ideas to me (outside of the amazing Appena Un Po' ![]() Also, micky, I got that Caress of Steel review done. Glad you enjoyed yourself in Italy. |

Storia Di Un Minuto. That's the one. Not as polished, but so filled with emotion! (by my standard)...and yes, my favourite.

excellent... looking for it... I do love that album and to answer your question.... I'd try my favorite PFM album...L'Isola di Niente. You won't find exactly what you are looking IN PFM... but I think you will find that more in evidence on that album.. .especially the two standout 'bookend' tracks. That said though... I don't think you will find that much from them... that is exactly what they did ..focus on the music and create some damn near flawless music ..especially on the those first two albums. |

That clip just doesn't do their album justice, I'm afraid ![]() Check out their clips on MySpace for a better glimpse of a fine band. |

L'Isola Di Niente is more aggressive in my eyes. Rawer, tougher and as talented as ever, but definitely more aligned with the British prog scene.

actually ..been listening to the two volumes of that set today... and thought back to your post.. calling di Andre a respected artist is akin to calling Dylan a respected artist here in the states.. he was a HUGE artist there.. the honor was PFM's to play with him. On that note... tried to find some YouTube clips of the shows in vain... but found this audio only.. no video. actually my favorite from the set ..for reasons best not said here ![]() A cover of Bob Dylan's Romance in Durango. Love the moog segments in there towards the end... it is folk... with with PFM's tastefuil fingerprints all over the music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4x2iv3e7AQ Edited by micky - May 05 2008 at 15:51 |

I agree.... under Raff's wing.. I've sort of branched out from just straight prog to other strains of the music there. I love it. They are great albums aren't they. The music is so good.. you really don't care if it is 'prog' or not. |

NCCP are very warmly recommended by myself too... I saw them perform live in my school in the mid-Seventies, and their concert was exciting to say the least. Though their music is more 'straight' folk than prog, their re-elaboration of traditional tunes (many of them dating back from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance) from the Naples area is a must for anyone interested in 'world music'. Unfortunately, most of their original albums are out of print now, and all that can be found in Italian music stores nowadays are compilations. If I remember correctly, in some of the albums at least the story of each song was explained in detail, which made fascinating reading.
