That sounds really cool, but I want to be taken by surprise when I get my hands on the CD.  After all, its Kayo Dot!

visit http://www.myspace.com/thesevenmilejourney to hear a great band called The Seven Mile Journey.  The song Identity Journals is one of my favorites from this band from Denmark.  More information available at http://www.thesevenmilejourney.dk/.

Their latest is only $10 (free shipping in the US).

A couple of reviews from their myspace site:

"The Seven Mile Journey are among the best that Denmark, Scandinavia and all of Europe have to offer in the traditional postrock movement."
(Disagreement, Germany)

"The Metamorphosis Project is a sophisticated experience that combines the sober spectacle of their predecessor with the swift resolution often associated with the post-rock sound. And it works, rather brilliant too."
(The Silent Ballet, USA)

Other than Don Cab, my knowledge of the Math Rock genre is not that good.

Recommendations for the more important Math bands please.

I got Nattens madrigal, and I think it's too metal to be under the genre of black metal, so I made a completey new style of metal just for this album....

Have you preordered yet?  Make sure to preorder from Hydrahead and get the pillowcase (or the shirt I guess, or best yet, get both).

I didn't know you were a Kayo fan, that's awesome.

Yeah, BLD is second only to Choirs in the entire Toby Driver related discography.

Hella - Hold Your Horse Is

It's probably not what you expect, but it is one of the best ways to spend 32 minutes.

Also, I just downloaded (off emusic) This Will Destroy You's s/t from this year.  Anyone else know it/want to tell me how it is.

I second Oxes, great band, and either of Sleepinjg People's CDs, Growing especially good..  Hella's Hold Your Horse Is excellent math, Dysrhythmia for mathcore/mathmetal, and for much rougher stuff the Hosemobile or Swep the Leg Johnny

What have you heard beyond Kayo Dot/Maudlin?

Because I'd be happy to point you in the right direction for some of the side projects (on last.fm probably, I guess).

I don't s'pose anyone else can recommend stuff that sounds similar to Upsilon Acrux and Ahleuchatistas?

David, being David, is bound to say Don Caballero.  I want someone else besides them. Wink

Also, Sleeping People supposedly sound like them.  I wouldn't know, though, I've never listened to them.  You can hear a full album for free on last.fm, though.

I just got done with In the L... L...Library loft, and I'm now starting Dowsing. I've been listening to more Toby Driver than whats healthy. I guess you could call me a fanboy, but worshipper would be more fitting.

Bath is still the best!

Math rock? I really need some Hella, but I pretty much have to recomend Coptic light to anyone who asks, just for their sheer amount of prog.Big%20smile
