I still don't understand how one can go from "Be" to "Scarsick"... it's like Daniel was so exhausted after writing such an intreresting concept that he suddenly became an angry teenager again...

The lyrics are one thing.  But for the music to get markedly worse is a sad thing....

@KW, No, I didn't see them live....I was just talking about the BE dvd.

oh, well thats disappointing.
The DVD is really good though. i liked it a lot. it always adds a different feel to see a band play live. Some of daniels theatrics were a bit over the top but hey Big%20smile thats part of the show.

If what Daniel has said about it before (it was supposed to become Part II but then got
delayed and became Part III of TPE), it's going to be quite orchestral. The original plan
was to feature a bigger orchestra on TPEII than was used on the BE album, but since
they obviously changed their plans and did Scarsick first, who knows what else changed...

Alright! So there is some hope! I still have some reservations, but it's looking up.

Just pray that Little Daniel doesn't get indigested with some Snickers or an apple pie so that he goes back to "Scarsick 2"

What happened to this thread during my weekend absence!?AngryWink
Now it almost deserves to be closed, what is rather unfair to the topic starter who started it among the  prog music appreciations.

You know, everything is under the bridge and apologies have been expressed. It was a lapse in judgment on my part.

As much as I continue to disagree with certain views, I'm just going to stay away from the topic in the future...and I'm sure there will be more.

Well, it has returned to music.

When an album sucks so much, and the lyrics are so imflamatory, what else can be expected...

I still hope that Daniel will return to form in the next one...

I have listned to POS MUCH less after hearing Scarsick. I think that says it all. Anyone else in the same boat?

Threw Remedy Lane in the car's player today. Still sounds good, but I don't listen to too much POS these days.

I still have Remedy lane as one of my top 10 albums... but the band itself lost a lot of ground with me.. I always forget to mention it now when I list my favorite bands... and it is one of them, but that last album... really...Dead

I just haven't listened to them in a while
though Scarsick really didn't alter the rotation schedule
I have like periods of listening to a band
then ones where I don't

Actually, I've been listening to their other albums much much more to help wash the horrid taste out of my mouth. Entropia did the trick all by itself actually, and a little Remedy Lane reprise never hurts!

Speaking of Remedy Lane, that was the first Pain of Salvation I ever heard. It was practically a blind buy, but from the very first song, I knew I had something good. The concept is rock-solid, and it's the same with the music. I especially enjoy the vocal layering as well.

I'm in the same boat, Kevin.  I've not listened to a single PoS song or album since hearing Scarsick.  I was that disappointed.

I've never heard BE or 12:3 either.

Remedy Lane is the best album, except for the dreadful last track.  Entropia my favourite (but not necessarily their best), as it's the one I've played the most and all tracks are good to excellent.  There's a few moments of almost laughable vocals performances from Daniel, but apart from that, I love that album.

One Hour I've only heard the once, I think.  I did like it and I didn't dislike any of the songs on it.

The less said about Scarsick the better, to be fair.  It was awful.

This is really no Godfather II....Musically it may well be one of the awful sequels ever...Even though I have to say, TPE P1 was never perfect for me... I liked the first half of the record and then it becomes kind of boring... The only true maginificent album by POS is REMEDY LANE and BE as a concept+music... 12:5 is a magnificent unplugged live album...Entropia and One Hour are OK....
