(let's see how many get that one ) 4 - For it to be made impossible to use the words "Dream Theater" in polls (at least if there are any more than 15 identical polls already on the front page) DB - DT ? DB - How about the knowing attempt at insider status in using acronyms  instead of the actual album's title ? WYWH, DSOTM, TAAB, APP, TFTO, CTTE, ITCOTCK, SOADBDCS, FOABP,TLLDOB,SEBTP ET AL.. Especially ITCOTCK. It almost reeks of something 'pornographic ... It is actually possible for me (as an admin) to put #2 and #3 above into practice... I could also arrange it so whenever anyone types in the word "Pallas", the words "Poo-Head" are substituted...

DB - alas, Pallas is a word I use only as a last resort. I do love their song Arrive Alive.

P.s. And the wrath inflicted when you are found guilty of not having read all 3000 posts on a thread and repeated something found on page 5 of 16. I only have so much time & so much beer before I lose the point of my arguement.

I'm not going to read the whole thread right now (there's a common occurrence here, all to often people don't take the time to read what's been said, and so repeat someone else's point, when they could have added to it, or miss explanations already given).

These are not favourite tendencies, but they can amuse me as much as exasperate me.

In polls or lists, people saying, "Where the hell is so-and-so?"  Which is especially obnoxious when someone has provided an "other" in a poll, already explained why they limited the options, or it's irrelevant to the subject (that can be funny).  Again in polls, people who don't read the question and/ or the initial post and so don't follow instructions.  I've played around with that a bit to see if people are paying attention, and have seen (or might have done it), a poll which asked for least favourite and various people mistakenly voted for their favourites.

Another one from polls:  You have but two choices (say the question might be "which album sounds better to you") and someone votes for choice A because they haven't heard choice C.  In many cases, one might at least expect someone who is going to vote to search for some streaming samples before voting.

Though it's true that music should not be treated like an Olympic event, I'm sure that many who voted in the Prog Olympics tournaments had never heard all of the options in each poll.  Imagine a figure skating competition where the judges do not bother to watch all of the performances and so can only vote for the ones they saw (we weren't around for x's performance so y wins!).

Another Prog Archives tendency amongst some is to be so PC sometimes that people resist giving a negative opinion in band threads (and there are those who seem to take offence at people who dare to express that they don't like the same music)... I'd much rather see a mix of positive and negative opinions.  It's a matter of taste, anyway, so why take personal offence?  I also think it's very progressive of people to try music that will be harder to enjoy (one doesn't have to buy it, but try the streams here or at myspace).  TO me it's been important to step out of my comfort zone and attempt different kinds of music, and like it or not, involve myself in discussion about the music.  I find it sadly amusing how some people take someone else not liking (and expressing so) their preferred music as a personal affront.

Paragraphs are neato.  There are a lot of posters who have been here for years yet almost never bother to elaborate on their feelings, stances and tastes and as a consequence they remain rather anonymous and homogenous. I think it's a little sad that people log onto a forum to say almost nothing at all.

Forum: an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest. I hope that everyone realises the keyword buried in that definition is "discussion" rather than "formation of lists" or "snarkism" yet right now it's often blood from a stone-alicious. ;P

Option 4 the amusing thing about it is that I have fell into that category many times in the past.

Many do, but few take time to actually read them... which can lead to another of PA's wonderful tendencies - long rambling arguments about trivial (so-called) facts, which (a) have nothing to do with the original thread, and (b) could have been avoided in the first place had the original post been read not just looked at...

In my short PA existance I have seen lots of Dream Theater posts, but I guess that the most amusing statement is "If band X is here, then band Y should be!!"
