I'm referring to ALL of US. We love to overanalyze ourselves and the ridiculous polls and threads that sometimes take up a lot of our time... and then we go back to those same threads and polls! I love to laugh at myself you know, I'm not spitting upwards... I'm doing a universal spit....

Unfortunately, Garten appears to have drunk it all.

With some people, it doesn't matter the brand, just the alcoholic content. Personally, brandy is out of my league, budget-wise. That, and I haven't found a home brew store that sells a do it yourself kit. Mind you, even the ones for whiskey & vodka tell you that you'll just come out with 20% alcohol. That's not hard liquor, that's fortified wine.

Yeah, i know. You swear off "what's your favourite song/album/band polls as being too juvenile, then you find yourself mindlessly debating that Rush's Caress of Steel is their best album. As if it wasn't self evident. Or at least it is evident to my self. P.S. Due to you, I still am planning to some day maybe possibly thinking of probably picking up a Dream Theater album. I just haven't decided which one I would, if I did actually carry it through. Any advice on these two points ?

Seriously, what's all this about open-mindedness/closed-mindedness lately? It seems to be the popular thing to say to someone that doesn't like a certain band/genre. Can't people just listen to what they like....

"epic epic epic masterpiece, blows me away epic epic epic" tho in terms of reviewing, this place is a lot better than most. EDIT: I tend to overuse those words a bit as well

Ha Ha Ha, also what about reviews that start off with "What more can I say about this album ... "

None of the above -- though you've listed some good ones.
I laugh until I cry at poll and thread titles containing absolute terms like "best" and "worst," ones which equate the subjective ("better," etc) with the objective, almost any poll containing "VS," poll titles with "dis sapointing" (sic) in them, and any & all posts which operate under the assumption that "prog" is a known quantity, and a clearly-defined "genre," as in: "Why don't you just list real prog bands?" Duh! Because no two people can seem to agree as to just what the "prog" is, you bonehead!
But what really, really "amuses" me to the point of apoplexy and teeth-gnashing, foaming MADNESS, are poll and threads with the ubiquitous, insulting "overrated" in the title. ("Underrated" is almost as bad.)

If you ever carry such a difficult enterprise through, I recommend starting with their classic and most revered album by anti-Dt fans (that sounded weird.. I mean, the album DT hateboys mention as the classical "they started good enough and never could repeat their success"): Images and Words.

This is not a tendency but something that can get really annoying... or confusing.
Have you ever noticed when discussions turn interesting that suddenly is a complete mess of colors?
Have you ever been able to understand one of those?
Last one, I finally decided to stop trying to figure it out.
Only the persons in the discussion would recognize whhich post was whose. For the rest of us, it was like ancient egyptian...
Generally they get back to the original color when somehow says " I can't understand sh*t!"

^ Yeah T -- especially the really pale colours. Lord know, I avoid using colours whenever possible....
That, and fewkin' huge QUOTE PYRAMIDS!
Oh, and MASSIVE, slow-loading sig pics too!
And endless lists of songs and artists sans any illuminating commentary!
And the lack of sleep due to staying up way too late on this pointless, addictive, wonderful forum....
THUMP! (falls asleep on floor)

Well, as long as I don't do any of the poll options or other ridiculous things, I'm allowed to laugh and joke about them!

A few things which would do our beloved professor's blood pressure no end of benefit would be the following:
1 - Installation of a working automatic spell-check system.
2 - A system whereby the word "best" is automatically replaced by "favorite"
3 - "under-rated" and "over-rated" be asterix'd out completely
4 - For it to be made impossible to use the words "Dream Theater" in polls (at least if there are any more than 15 identical polls already on the front page)
It is actually possible for me (as an admin) to put #2 and #3 above into practice... I could also arrange it so whenever anyone types in the word "Pallas", the words "Poo-Head" are substituted...

You've never noticed the insinuated insistence that some propound whereas you listen to certain "difficult" masterpieces or bands until you admit, I mean understand their supposed brilliance. Fifty listens later, and I still don't get the rave reviewed & revered debut master opus by Uber munchies. I guess another fifty will make the difference. Too bad i don't have time to listen to the new Porcupine Tree album. I've heard that people actually like it on the first spin or two.
