This is a great record, though I wasn't aware they had disbanded
I agree with your assessment entirely. It's only flaw is I wish it was longer!
Also, as for the Russian Circles... I really like the first track a lot, but a good bit of the rest of the album isn't too great. I'd give it 3-3.5 stars, but I wish they had done better.

This is awesome stuff, too. I'm really becoming a fan of the older, noisier stuff from the early post-rock scene.

DATURAH are nice, but not essential...at least, for me

I just heard North Ruins and I must say I that I like this album. I think someone on this thread recommended it before.

Very Jokabish, but with more metal. Reverie was a pretty good album, four star at least.

well can't complaint. I've also heard the samuel jackson five easily misunderstood. It's pretty good. So...have you heard the day without dawn ep?

Yep...got it almost simultaneously with LATITUDES "Black Epiphany in Slow Motion", both are very good, though DWD's EP is far less superior than their full-length effort. LATITUDES are instrumental Post-Rock/Metal in "heavier than RUSSIAN CIRCLES, lighter than OMEGA MASSIF" vein if you'd ask me

I just listened to Day Without Dawn's album "Understanding Consequences" and at first I was turned off by the vocals, but it grew on me by the end of the album. The second listen was much better! I have a feeling this could grow on me alot more!
for the recommendation oh, on a COMPLETELY unrelated note, my last.fm profile just "forgot" most of the music I have listened to. My "overall chart" now seems to be replaced by my "3 month" chart! really disappointing! anybody know how to fix this? Edited by Oceansizzle - April 08 2008 at 15:00 |

Well haven't heard LATITUDES. But I've heard Russian Circles and Omega Massif only heard a few times and didn't liked it that much. |

I agree with this emotion!
Latitudes are also really good, they are label partners with *shels, so that must mean they're good. Their EP will probably go down as a 4 star in my book. Edited by schizoid_man77 - April 08 2008 at 20:56 |

Latitudes didn't impressed me as much as Omega Massif did, but who can do that when you're competing with a band that made the song In Der Mine?!!
What I'm trying to say is that Latitudes are an OK band, nothing really special, but not band either. How about Tephra? Anyone heard of them? |

Actually I just voted for them ... seems like it's 2:1 in favor of inclusion. |

Hey guys, just checked out one of the bands in the Suggest New Artists thread, Adolf Plays the Jazz. They are really really great, plus everything they have done is available for free from their website so it is certainly worth the time. Go check 'em out. |
