"Age Specific" Forum

Perhaps this has already been suggested...but what is the possibility of creating separate forums which are - how should i word this - Age Specific.

i'm not against conversing with younger members...
HOWEVER, I find myself really enjoying - and relating to - the posts from those over 40 especially when it comes to music issues...in addition to general life issues.

cross-posting would be allowed of course, with the understanding that THAT person is in a different "age catagory"

create these forums on a trial basis at first to see if it works:
suggested break down:

15 - 20
20 - 30
30 - 45
45 - 60

That, my friend, is a heaping slice of blasphemy you've got there. I'm an example that age is no factor in knowledge. There are plenty more than me as well, and biasing the forums by age would just be ridiculous.

While I may have more in common with members closer to my age, I would never restrict myself to just that. The young people here have assisted me greatly in my prog journey. Without them, they are many discoveries I might never have made. You can learn from anybody. I highly recommend taking advantage of the opportunity.

Being new, I find that talking to people of all ages is what I like about this place (among many other things). I am a teenager and find most people my age stupid and/or self-centred. I enjoy interaction with people who actually know a lot more than me, or at least been around a lot longer.

Most of my (few) friends are younger than me, and one of the people I like and respect most on this forum is the 18-year-old Ricochet, who could very easily be my son (well, Micky and I have sort of adopted him too...). Though generalisations are always to be awoided, I am rather convinced that age is just a number - even though I occasionally enjoy conversing with people closer to my age (47 - I must be one of the very few women who readily admits to her age!).

I've moved this to the appropriate forum.



FWIW I dont believe age-specific forums would work. I think people gravitate to certain types of topics and parts of the general forum that interest them the most and that works for them.
