I admit that VdGG are one of my favorite bands. however, I really think the Escher-style letters of the logo are very fitting for the band, which is why it is an excellent logo for them

I absolutley love Yes' logo but had to choose Opeth's for the "O"...

Yes - The quintessential band logo!
2nd would be Zeppelin and 3rd would be the Stones (the tongue is classic!)
Besides Zeppelin's band logo, it also has the "runes" symbols - one for each member - from the album IV ("untitled"). I still love these despite their over-commercialized use on t-shirts for poser/emo kids at Hot Topic.
