I personally love the Boss loop station, it's really great for recording something if you're just fooling around and come up with something you like..or if you're trying to write a solo, just record the riff you're playing over once, and it plays over and over again. I also always use Snarling Dog Wah Pedal's.
Anyone have a favorite pedal that they use all the time? It doesn't have to be a boss pedal of course

oh man, I used to use the old orange Boss distortion box, and the chorus (think it was green)... used the infamous Rat for a while when I was into a dirty sound, but my personal favorite was probably the little yellow MXR Distortion + .http://www.guitarcenter.com/MXR-M-104-DISTORTION---Guitar-Pedal-100052652-i1124433.gc
Rhoads used it to get that 'foamy' sound |

Does it necessarily have to be stomp boxes or could also be processing units and such?

I might I have a pathological hatred of anything other than a massive array of stompboxes when it comes to efffects.
I've not used many Boss pedals but my DD3 delay despite going through batteries rather quickly is an excellent and very tough pedal. |

I must say as far as distortion goes, I got to the point where I preferred the sound of a good amp's natural overdrive without any effects killing the signal

The Loop Station is the only Boss pedal I have, and I love it. I've been coming up with all sorts of ways to do cool stuff with it, thought some are more musical than others.
Also, I've been startled by the battery life on that thing. It takes 4 C's, which I'm sure is a lot of milliamp-hours, but still, I've probably used it for more than 30 hours without having to change the batteries. Edited by rileydog22 - February 26 2008 at 21:32 |

I'm thinking of getting the Boss Space Echo RE-201, as it looks to me like the best bang-for-your-buck of any delay pedal on the market. Does anybody have any experience with the pedal?

The TU-2 Chromatic Tuner!
Tune live or in bypass, and power all your other pedals from it with a daisy-chain! |

For a great snarling sound the Dual & Turbo overdrive pedals are great. I currently have the GT6 processor. But with all these processors (POD, Vox, et al) it seems like a full blown college course is need to know the thing inside out. Heck , I had the POD 2.0 for 4-5 Years. It took me 2 years to stumble upon the fact that it had a built-in tuner !

^Lol. The two times I've ever tried to use the BOSS GT-8, Other than the wah wah, amp models and distortion pedal models, I could hardly figure it out. I've got my eye set on the new GT-10, but I have no idea when that hits Australian shores though.

I know what you mean. I usually like the processors mostly for having the basic pedals - chorus, delay, reverb, OD/Gain/Distortion etc ... I like the GT6 for the presets, but I choose them , then go into manual mode to add the other effects I want , ex - Twin Clean, then add on Vox OD on one pedal, Classic dist. on the second one, then delay chorus as needed or wanted; along with the original clean sound. The people I jam with sometimes wish that I would stick with one tone or patch, but I can never settle for any one. I'm the kind of player who wishes he could find an inexpensive tube amp (no modelers please) that gives me Fender cleans & blues, Vox chime & growl, and Marshall gain & classic rock OD. OF course, if like my fave musicians, I actually had the money to do as I please, I probably would need two or three ABY pedals to work all the others I'd purchase - Traynor, Hughes & Kettner, Garnett, Orange, MEsa Boogie ... |
