Check this out. They've finally made guitar necks with true temperament. http://www.truetemperament.com/main.php There's no way in hell that I'm buying one soon. A little more than I want to fork out for a neck. Edited by SpaceMonkey - February 22 2008 at 06:23 |

You could buy a really good guitar for that sort of money plus it looks plain ugly. I'm really not interested in a gimmicky neck like that.

It's really cool, I gotta admit, but like you said Space Monkey, it's a bit much to pay for a neck (comes out to being about 815 Australian Dollars). I'm also one of those 'fast neck super strat' type people, so medium jumbo frets will be too small for my liking and I like a minimum of a 14 inch fingerboard radius.

I remember seeing a guitar a few years ago (possibly a Yamaha Frank Gambale signature model) where the bottom 2 or 3 frets had kinks in them. To be honest, I've never noticed any problems with intonation on a decent guitar that's set up well but that may just be my cloth ears.

interesting indeed... but isn't the fun of a guitar the unwieldy danger of it all?
anyone ever play a graphite neck? |

Save your money. Get a Buzz Feiten tuning system put on your guitar. It's a bit beyond my grasp to explain it, but check the net for info. Steve Vai is a believer. I got it done for $200 cad on my Epiphone Les Paul custom. Because of the extra work, the same on an acoustic would be $400. But these may vary. Check the site for more info on dealers.

I've yet to see one in person, so to speak, so this is based on the pictures only. But I wonder if the squiggly frets might be a problem when chording, especially barre chords.
The Buzz Feiten seems a much simpler solution. Replace the nut, do some adjustments & away you go. one thing that would be enjoyable would be to hand a guitar with the TT frets to someone who's stoned and see their reaction when you answer that there's nothing wrong with the frets |

Wow, these guys have their heads so far up their asses that they ignore the facts.
Actually, composer Harry Partch built multiple (at least three, maybe more) guitars which were not at all "shacked" to equal temperment, but instead adjusted to Partch's famous just-intoned scales. Partch was performing on just-intoned guitar by 1941, so I think it's safe to say that guitars have been unshackled from the equal tempered system for several decades now. |
