What are peoples favourite bands outside of the genre of prog? This is hard becaue why would you wan't to listen to anything that isn't prog but every now and then we all drift into new genres
i personally enjoy Deep purple at their harder rock moments
lots of 80's rock

I actually do believe there is another thread with the exact same theme areound here, i'll see if i can find it for you..
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=42972 Right.. i guess "all genres" includes prog, and you're looking specifically for non-prog bands. Anyway, i just thought you might want to look into that one, it is a rather long thread, so it may be interesting to you. |

What do you mean with Deep Purple at their harder rocker moments?
Well let's see my fave band is outside the prog genre so... Deep Purple (all MK except with Satriani that I never heard) Led Zeppelin The Who The Beatles Nazareth (Hair of the dog only lol) Black Sabbath (Ozzy era and Heaven and Hell from Dio only) Rainbow (debut only) Trapeze (Hughes era) Whitesnake (with Jon Lord) Ac/Dc (few albums) Inxs Simply Red Alice Cooper Audioslave Blind Melon Ram Jam Pearl Jam many others...... Most bands I listen to fall outside of Prog. Posting a list would be a huge, unnecessary namedrop so I'll avoid that.

Prog makes up a very small part of what I listen to considering how picky I am about it, so most of what I listen to falls outside of prog like black metal, indie, emo, ambient, New Age, avant-garde, minimalism, doom metal, classical, etc.
