All these years Italian Prog has past me by, and I'd like some recommendations.
 
The thought of swamps of synth and keyboard seems very interesting, but I have this thing about vocals: I find it very distracting listening to non-English lyrics. So what Italian Prog can you point me to with English lyrics, pereferably without foreign-sounding pronounciation.
 
Oh, by the way: No discrimination intended at all, it's just how it is. Can't listen to most of Krautrock for the same reasons.

I am afraid you're out of luck here. Most classic Italian prog is sung in Italian, and the few bands who sing in English usually do so with a rather heavy accent. The Italian lyrics are part and parcel of the whole phenomenon of Italian progressive rock, and if you really can't stomach them, you'd better try something else - or look for the rather few instrumental albums available.

That said, as a native speaker of Italian, I find it hard to be sympathetic towards your attitude, though realise I can't change people's tastes. BTW, there was a thread on this subject some time ago in the Prog Lounge.

  I am no expert, on any prog, esspecially italian prog, but I do know of one album.  It is Le Orme's Felona & Sorona.  Peter Hammill does the lyrics on it.  I personally think it sounds better in italian, but I can understand italian.  Even if you dont understand italian, it is such a beutiful language, you should give it a try.
 
  Either way Peter Hammill still does a good job on it, and I think you would like it

None.  All of those English lyrics detract from the experience,   Heck, I much rather hear Per Un Amico than the weak, b*****dized English version Photos of Ghosts.  Just deal with it.   Pretend they are singing in Kobaian or something.

Ok, our language filter has gone too far when I can't mention that William the b*****d won the Battle of Hastings back in 1066.   Can I even discuss how good the Dick Van Dyke Show was here/?
