Yes, yes, he's the excellent front man of Maiden. A force to be reckoned with while on the stage and arguably one of the best stage performers of all time.

But what about beyond Maiden?

I've been a huge Bruce fan since his 2005 solo effort, "A Tyranny of Souls"... just wondering, what does the prog community think of this solo efforts (not as a progressive taste, of course. Just music in general)? Personally, I love everything from Accident of Birth onwards, and what came before wasn't bad either. Inertia was an excellent song and some of the stuff off Tattooed millionaire is... interesting.

To me, The Chemical Wedding can be just as satisfying as may of Maiden's efforts, and of the two in the 90s I'd say that he did better stuff.

Anyways, as far as "balls to the walls" metal goes, wha-da-ya think?

The Chemical Wedding is a masterpiece of well-crafted, intelligent metal - heavy as anything, but with a definite depth (being inspired by William Blake never hurt anyone...). Unfortunately, I have never heard his other solo albums, but I'd be interested to give them a listen. He's not only a great singer and frontman, but one hell of a smart, educated man too.

Well i for one have never liked Maiden. Basically No Prayer for the Dying is the only song from them that I listen to usually. But, I do have Dickinsons all albums, pretty much all the metal i listen to nowadays. And yes, you spelled the topic wrong. I saw Maiden live once. They were rather impressive, and i could tell all the songs, sure, my mother used to listen to them when i was a kid, but I still say I'd rather see Bruce Alone.

Bruce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Up the Irons!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need I say more!!!!!!!

Ok I will say more. I think Bruce's solo albums are some of the best metal out there, and make a good addition to the pantheon of Iron Maiden. Lets face it, Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson are intertwined and when any of them do "solo" stuff it is still under the umbrella of Iron Maiden. When Bruce writes a book away from music, it is Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden writing a book. It is just like Paul Di'Anno is and always will be Paul Di'anno of Iron Maiden no matter where he goes. Iron Maiden is not just a band it has become an entity and all its members are an extended family. Bruce will do more solo stuff, and will go back to Maiden proper after that. His solo stuff will be on the Maiden website (just like Paul usually is) and then will get back to the boys and rock another album.
