boys and girls,

i've just had an idea: put together a fictive YES line up with whatever musician of choice.
the only parameters: stay with the tested five-instruments personnel and your version
of YES must include two members that have previously been in the band.
it might be a laugh to see who people come up with.

here's mine to start you off:
JON ANDERSON
CHRIS SQUIRE (sorry for being unimaginative, gotta have those two)
FRANCIS DUNNERY
CHRIS MAITLAND
GEOFFREY DOWNES

I suppose these choices are based on who I think might contribute to Yes moving forwards without sacrificing the band's 'soul'?

Trying to imagine what a quality female singer would bring to the usic of Yes..

BTW, good to see F. Dunnery getting a mention. Brilliant guitarist!

john lawton! crikey! erm ... interesting, esp. tori on keys. hell, why not.
no apologies! feel free to let loose with any constellation that comes to mind.
spot on with the assessment as to who might move the band forward.

Wow, now I'm torn between Lawton and Haslam. Haslam would be a better choice for capturing the spirit, but I feel that Yes would benefit greatly from some more powerfully delivered vocals.
 
Don't get me wrong, I've always appreciated Anderson's voice, but sometimes I feel that it can be a bit twee.

Remember, iguana made one condition; that we retain two members of Yes (past or present) in our line ups. Stick to the rules, Charterhouser & Raimondo..

I don't know Lawton, but if you're going to have Amos, she should do vocals, too.  Metheny would be rather interesting doing guitar.  Squire and Bruford are cool, but shouldn't any lineup be just non-Yes members to be really interesting?

Though given your parameters, how about
Moraz and Banks as the two mixed in with I dunno...

I'd keep Squire and Bruford. Then maybe add:
Peter Hammill on vocals, since every band in existence could benefit from that
Frank Zappa-guitar
Ludwig Van Beethoven-keys
