4%20stars First of all Zao came out from MAGMA project so the first i sayed before getting it was sh*t, if it comes from MAGMA, it must be cool! and so it was, i really like this album, it has lot of things from MAGMA's sound,.

One thing that i can say is that the ZOHAR song is really a pearl, with his violoncello's solo and with those strange times, it gives me the sensation that i've got when im walking in a dark forest.

Then i like a lot BAKUS mainly for the voice, a suffering voice.

4 stars for it! MAGMA 4EVER!

There's a language issue (the word sh*t isn't censored in the original review).

Here's another from one of my latest favorite weird reviewer:

HÖYRY-KONE — Huono Parturi
Review by Kobaia 4%20stars Allright folks, this is the weekly streetly online trend gallup from the middle of Paris! I'm Francois Exterrand from PTM, Paris Trend Magazine, and I'm just standing at the roots of Eiffel about to interview some interesting tourists that are plenty here!

There goes interesting one, it's certainly some role-playing youngster dressed in all cloak, let's interview him! - Hello there! Excuse me, may I ask you some questions... Why are you dressed like that, what are you supposed to be, a vampire? Do you suck blood, hahahhaah! Is there a role playing meeting or something? Do you hava a job? How does hippies like you earn their living? Begging? Hahahhha! - Excuse me! I really haven't got time for this, I'm from a gregorian choir and on my way to rehearsals...

Ouch! A heretic! Hahaha! But wait a minute, there comes a fiancé with a bush of flowers in her hand! - Excuse me! Are you a cow? are you going to eat those herbs? Hahahaa! Hey, wait a seconde! imbécile! That one was also in a hurry, impatient tourists here!

But look at that! Look it's all green affaires! - Hello there! May I ask you some questions, I'm from...? Why are you dressed like that for god's sake! Where are you from? Did your mother dress you? Are you an idiot? Do you think you're a fairy or what? What if I spit you in your face? Hahaha! Tourists! Hahaha... - I'm a beer hunter from Finland and I think you've better run, fast!...

...Wow, some running is good for health! Lets' see, who's the next one. Now, there's a promising dude, dressed all in black, even his face is covered in black and white paint, is it alive or dead? Lets get closer... oh, it's frightening, what if I pass this one... Oh no, I ask him... what if he gets mad... I'll shout him 'f**k you, hahahah'....

...Wow, some running is good for health! But hey, what's there! Lets go and see... Oh, its a musicien des rues, street musician, bad luck! Wait wait wait, there's a dog s hit! I throw that in his trumpet case! ... So! Hahahahah....

Oh, well, I almost died in laughing! Oh look, there's a barber! Lets get in and interview him!... - Excuse me, may I have a hair cut... - Where's the scissors, shaving-brush, mustache trim, sideburns cutter, a gentlemans eau de cologne might make you a baron too ... clip clip...

Oh, it seems like I'm bald now! What a bad barber! Crazy man! I'm in a bad mood now. I'd better go in street cafe to get drunk... I'm gonna kill that barber... took me 30 euros of this... Waiter! Gimme one more...

This is one crazy record!

Sadly this one doesn't even talk about the band until the last paragraph and he says "F**ck You" in there too.

I prefer his Sigur Ros or even Taal's review from him. His Renaissance review was a bit weird too, but a hilarious read!

Well, I just wrotte one myself, but I think I have some words accidentally spoiled by the not very comfortable keyboard. How can I repair it (how do I edit a review)?.

Edit: the review, not the keyboard...

GALLIARD* — Strange Pleasure By Galliard
Review by galliardprogrockman (Les Marshall)

4%20stars Hi Guys

Having been one of the founder members of Galliard, I find it strange not to have had a mention. I was the drummer, Les Podraza (now Les Marshall). So if you can find some good words to say about me within the reviews of both our albums, i'd be very gratefull. You can find more info on me and the band at www.progrockman.co.uk.

Please feel free to borrow any pics or wording that you want. I shall be putting a link from me to you soon.

Many Thanks

Les.

I must say, I've never ever seen a member of a band (the drummer!) come on PA and make a "review" where we asks to be "reviewed".
Maybe we forgot him in the bio? Maybe Sean Trane hasn't said enough? Tongue

Oops, the other thread closed while I was in mid-post.  Just saying, I don't think anyone trashed him, just a respectful disagreement.  Smile

yeah... which is why I didn't unleash the hyenas on him..  just put a warning out.   I didn't think the thread itself was a good idea to be honest it could have dissolved into something like that.  No one really deserves to have their reviews sauteed like that in open forum thread like that.. no matter how stupid they are.  Though in discussions.. they are fair game as I did the other day.  Even though it took a bit for the guy to see I was actually trying to be constructive in my criticism of his review.

Even if people are entitled of their opinion, I see no problem in discussing their ideas, in a civil manner and in the right place... in the end, we all will learn a bit more (that's my hope Smile).

I couldn't agree more Guigo.. I don't know if you caught the discussion where I jumped a poster.. called his review half-ass shotty and an hatchet job..  but it stayed cvil and after some help with some more diplomatically minded posters ..we got him to see there are way to improve reviews and write good ones.  I'd like to think he learned something and will be a better reviewer next time.   I guess my point was... I don't think that thread was constructive...by creating a thread and putting it out there for all  to see that 'my' opinion of his review was lacking hahahha. Criticism can be good.. but lets face it... this was not civil... constructive.. or a basis for discussion LOL

I wish there was the possibility to reply or comment on posted reviews. For instance, when I read this: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=161384

my reaction is:

Syd Barrett's songs "dated"?

2%20stars Having only 2 good songs and both are highlights but still there are 11 songs! Just hear The Ladder (homeworld) and New Language and then compile them with other good songs from previous albums and then Leave It.

short. Sleepy

Been following his reviews....  he's learning on the job. I'll have a word to him.

Well I think I've already reported at least 15 reviews of his "don't have much to say, but why don't I say at least a tiny bit anyway" style.

Other than this sort of pointless activity (sorry, but I have to believe you can write more than two lines, since we have so many reviewers that write decently - including him, most of the times - plus many reviewers that "push the length"), I'm all fine with his reviews.

Well, this is just to report something funny.. Earlier this afternoon I posted a review of Jethro Tull's Crest of a Knave, and a couple of hours afterwards there were another TWO reviews of the same album on the home pageLOL! I don't know if it was because my review was particularly good, or if the two people in question were reminded of the album at the same time... Anyway, I thought it was funny, and a welcome change from having to report the handiwork of assorted trolls.
