ooohhhhh... the very FUN kind hahhah... but oh so depressing on the wallet hhahahha.
I think you'll dig Osanna... and hard. Here's something from their debut.... it isn't Palepoli.. but that's a good thing. Part of their endearing quality is every single one of their albums is stylistically different. If you don't have Palepoli.... get it...as soooooon as you can hahhaha. What an incredible musical experience that is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=st5bEcrKpgM |

yea, I've heard some of the debut (L'uomo...?) and Landscape of Life, they were pretty good, they have that ass-kicking drive that makes you wanna crank it up - reminds me of another one you recommended me a while back, Osage Tribe. I haven't listened to the clip of Oro Caldo in the archives for a long time 'cuz I want to be surprised when I get the album, I might even go for the fancy mini-LP thing

I agree, that's a great review; gotta love Andrea's too...even throws in some translated lyrics
![]() The opener “Oro caldo” (Hot Gold) begins in a quiet Mediterranean mood (just flute and percussions), then come in an “electric tarantella” that leads to a guitar and keyboards passage in “Genesis style”… “Hot gold drops from a trumpet / From where the shadow of a cold and silent note comes out… And the wind runs towards me / Carrying the reality into its whirls / I feel cold in my thoughts / Thousands voices are trampling on me…”… Then the “show” goes on with continuous changes of rhythm and mood, great harmony vocals (with lyrics swaying from “Pulcinella’s hilarity” to social subjects) and amazing instrumental breaks… “Stanza città” is just a short instrumental bridge… “Animale senza respiro” (Animal Without Breath) starts in a more jazzy and experimental way that after six minutes leads to an explosion… Then a delicate acoustic passage… “…You have no more time / You have no more hours / You have no more strength to believe in you / In this metre of life that you have / You are looking for the air of a breath / You have no more time / You have no more hours / You are nothing now…”… There is no rest nor boredom, the music goes on and on and all you have to do is listen to: in this album many influences mixed up together give life to an original, complex and theatrical kind of “rock-opera” very difficult to describe… “Palepoli” is without doubt the highest peek in the career of Osanna: it is an unique album and a masterpiece of the “Italian prog”… It's interesting that Sean Trane and James (Finnforest) were less than thrilled about it...perhaps not unanimously appreciated the way early Banco and PFM are, I'll take that as a good thing, like in the case of Area. |

Couldn't agree more. Andrea P is a hell of a reviewer.
A very good thing.... I noticed James wasn't high on it.. and Hugues.. well... Hugues is not a fan of Italian prog . It is a good thing though.... personally I think the more challenging the music.. then ultimately... the more rewarding the music is...with challenging music like that some people that will fall by the wayside. Universal acclaim is not all it is cracked up to be with prog... it should challenge listeners...but losing some is the cost at times. *inserts backhanded insult at groups like Genesis * ![]() ![]() |

Well I don't dislike Palepoli, I just made the mistake of falling for Cervello Melos around the same time, and compared side by side, I still much prefer the latter brother.
Speaking of him, he has the coolest damn website you'll ever find. Check this out and poke around for a bit, its freaking hilarious. http://www.corradorustici.com/pages/index.php?ID=00_hp&LANG=en |

checking it out.. but I think I know the website.. if it is the one... it IS hahhahah.
Funny.... my Cervello review mentioned the exact opposite in a way...I expected to be blown away as I was with Palepoli... and it didn't happen... but rather grew on me over time.. still though never reaching the level (in my eyes of course) of Palepoli. checking that site out |

Damn dude, you really wrote the definitive review of that one. Must have taken all night! (DeDe Lind)
I'm also happy to see RRR get more exposure, that is one of the IT-prog heavyweights to be sure. Awesome record. |
