7 months and three weeks without smoking. I feel GREAT, though I'll have to wait for about 5 - 8 years for my lungs to fully recover from the effects of my stupidity.

¿You know? I joined PA on my birthday, a couple of years ago, searching for info on a gift recommendation for someone ho said "ok, ¿what do you want?". Thanks to that, I have my lovely copy of "The wake".

You have been very observant indeed. Yes, we will both be 40 on our next birthdays. Jean's will be on Dec 5th. There will definitely be something special, but we don't know what it will be yet.

39?  Wow.  You don't look a day over 29!  Or maybe that's the fog this morning.  Whatever.  Have a very Happy BDAy, Baldfriede!

Thank you. We didn't have a big party. My parents and my siblings came for lunch (all but the younger of my two brothers, who has to work today; he is a horse-racing journalist). We had one of my favourite dishes for lunch: Chicken fricassee. Yummy!

Thanks, guys.

Today is also Mozart's and Nick Mason's birthdays. Also, some many years ago, Thomas Crapper died on this day.
